Position: Surveillance Systems Technician

Job Summary:
Our client is looking for a hands-on Surveillance Systems Technician to install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain commercial and residential surveillance and security systems. This role is ideal for someone with experience in low-voltage installation, video surveillance, security systems, or related fieldwork who is comfortable working with both physical equipment and basic IP networking.
Responsibilities:
Installation & Field Service
- Install and service IP camera systems, NVRs/DVRs, PoE switches, and related surveillance equipment.
- Run, terminate, label, and test low-voltage cabling.
- Install and mount cameras, equipment, and other security devices.
- Adjust camera positioning, focus, and image quality.
- Perform system testing and verify proper operation after installation.
System Configuration & Troubleshooting
- Configure cameras, NVRs, recording schedules, and user access.
- Troubleshoot camera, recording, connectivity, and system performance issues.
- Perform firmware updates and basic system maintenance.
- Diagnose issues involving bandwidth, connectivity, and network communication.
- Assist with remote access and system connectivity.
Networking:
- Configure and troubleshoot basic IP network settings, including IP addresses, DHCP, DNS, and subnetting.
- Work with switches, PoE, routers, and firewalls as they relate to surveillance systems.
- Identify and resolve network connectivity issues between cameras, recording equipment, and other devices.
Customer Service & Documentation:
- Communicate professionally with customers while working onsite.
- Explain basic system operation and provide user instruction when needed.
- Maintain accurate job notes, equipment information, and configuration documentation.
- Keep tools, equipment, and work areas organized and safe.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience with video surveillance installation, low-voltage systems, security systems, or similar fieldwork.
- Working knowledge of IP networking and TCP/IP.
- Experience working with network equipment such as switches, PoE, routers, and/or firewalls.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical problems independently and methodically.
- Ability to work from ladders and perform physical installation work.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel locally and occasionally outside the Tulsa area.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with commercial surveillance systems and VMS platforms.
- Experience with NVRs/DVRs and IP-based camera systems.
- Familiarity with VLANs, subnetting, DHCP, and remote access.
- Experience with access control or other electronic security systems.
- Low-voltage, networking, or manufacturer-specific certifications.

- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
Education: No degree required.
