We are actively seeking a Tier 2-3 Help Desk / Desktop Support Specialist to join our team. This opening is backfilling a recent departure, and we're looking for someone who can step in quickly and deliver excellent customer support. This is a 4-month contract with the possibility of full-time hire once our hiring pause is lifted.
About the RoleThe Desktop & Education Support Specialist provides professional technical support across a wide range of Windows and Mac environments. You'll work both independently and as part of a collaborative team to resolve software, hardware, and network issues. This role supports customers on-site and remotely, ensuring fast, accurate, and customer-focused problem resolution.
You'll handle workstation deployment, classroom technology maintenance, audio/visual equipment support, and serve as a frontline technical resource for faculty, staff, and students. This includes performing installs, upgrades, preventive maintenance, and responding to emergency on-site issues as needed. Some flexibility in schedule (evenings/weekends) may be required.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Tier 2-3 support for Windows and Mac OS environments
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues
- Deliver, configure, and deploy new workstations and peripherals
- Support classroom technology, including AV systems, projection, and instructional equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance and classroom technology upgrades
- Serve as a resource for customer training and best practices
- Act as a team lead on complex projects and escalations
- Communicate and track outages in the computing environment
- Provide on-site desktop support and serve as an escalation point when needed
Required Skills- Hands-on desktop support experience (Tier 2-3)
- Strong customer-facing communication and professionalism
- Windows OS expertise
- Mac OS experience (JAMF preferred)
- Troubleshooting, deployment, imaging
- Active Directory, Office 365
- Strong hardware support background
Preferred Skills- ServiceNow experience
- Experience supporting classroom or AV technologies
- Experience working in higher education environments
- Ability to work independently with limited direction

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.50/hr.
