Job Description

About CoStar Group

CoStar Group is a leading global provider of commercial and residential real estate information, analytics, and online marketplaces. Included in the S&P 500 Index, CoStar Group is on a mission to digitize the world's real estate, empowering all people to discover properties, insights, and connections that improve their businesses and lives.

We have been living and breathing the world of real estate information and online marketplaces for over 35 years, giving us the perspective to create truly unique and valuable offerings to our customers. We've continually refined, transformed and perfected our approach to our business, creating a language that has become standard in our industry, for our customers, and even our competitors. We continue that effort today and are always working to improve and drive innovation. This is how we deliver for our customers, our employees, and investors. By equipping the brightest minds with the best resources available, we provide an invaluable edge in real estate.

The Role

We're looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer who thrives at the intersection of software engineering and infrastructure. You'll help keep some of the web's highest-traffic real estate platforms running at scale - and you'll have a real say in how we evolve our platform engineering practices. If you care deeply about automation, resilience, and developer experience, this is the job for you.

This position is located in Arlington, VA and offers a schedule of Monday through Thursday in office and the option to work from home Friday.

What You'll Do
  • Architect & automate infrastructure using IaC tools (Terraform, Helm) across AWS, Azure, and on-prem environments.
  • Own the CI/CD pipeline - design, build, and optimize delivery workflows using tools like Azure DevOps Pipelines, Jenkins, or ArgoCD.
  • Drive observability - instrument applications and infrastructure with APM, synthetic monitoring, RUM, and log aggregation (e.g., Datadog, New Relic, Splunk).
  • Scale for traffic - support mass-scale web architecture across multiple brands and products; performance is non-negotiable.
  • Strengthen the platform - manage CDN configuration, DNS, load balancing, containerized workloads (Docker/Kubernetes), and multi-region reliability.
  • Write real code - automate everything you can with Bash, Python, PowerShell, or TypeScript; leverage AI tooling to accelerate development and push back on toiling relentlessly.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally - partner with product engineering, security, and network teams to deliver safely and quickly.
  • Mentor & grow - support hiring, onboarding, and the professional growth of teammates; share what you know generously.

Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of DevOps or platform engineering experience, ideally supporting high-traffic, consumer-facing web products.
  • Fluent in infrastructure as code - Terraform and Helm are your default tools, not an afterthought.
  • Solid cloud experience on at least one major provider (AWS preferred; Azure and Google Cloud Platform familiarity a bonus).
  • Comfortable scripting in Bash and at least one higher-level language (Python, PowerShell, TypeScript, or similar).
  • Configured and tuned CDNs for performance caching and global traffic management.
  • Understand large-scale network fundamentals - DNS, hypervisors, containers, databases, multi-datacenter topologies.
  • Have worked with SQL and/or NoSQL databases in a production context.
  • Bachelor's Degree required from an accredited, not for profit, in person university or college
  • A track record of commitment to prior employers

Preferred Qualifications And Skills
  • Experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, or serverless architectures.
  • Background in software development (Java, C#, Python, Node.js) - you'll work closely with engineers, and speaking their language helps.
  • Familiarity with PCI compliance and remediation workflows.
  • Mobile platform support experience (iOS / Android infrastructure).
  • Experience designing or consuming REST APIs and microservices.
  • Agile/Scrum experience in short sprint cycles.

What's in it for You

When you join CoStar Group, you'll experience a collaborative and innovative culture working alongside the best and brightest to empower our people and customers to succeed.

We offer you generous compensation and performance-based incentives. CoStar Group also invests in your professional and academic growth.

Our benefits package includes (but is not limited to):
  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage: Medical / Vision / Dental / Prescription Drug
  • Life, legal, and supplementary insurance
  • Virtual and in person mental health counseling services for individuals and family
  • Commuter and parking benefits
  • 401(K) retirement plan with matching contributions
  • Employee stock purchase plan
  • Paid time off
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • On-site fitness center and/or reimbursed fitness center membership costs (location dependent), with yoga studio, Pelotons, personal training, group exercise classes
  • Access to CoStar Group's Employee Resource Groups
  • Complimentary gourmet coffee, tea, hot chocolate, fresh fruit, and other healthy snacks

We welcome all qualified candidates who are currently eligible to work full-time in the United States to apply. However, please note that CoStar Group is not able to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
