Analytical Systems Engineer (Software)

The Opportunity

StaffRight Associates is recruiting for an Analytical Systems Engineer (Software) on behalf of a global, multinational engineering and manufacturing organization. The Analytical Systems Engineer (Software) will advance and apply system analysis capabilities within proprietary engineering software used by sales, service, application engineering, and select customers. The focus is the engineering calculations and algorithms behind analytical tools that model products in the field, assess component performance, and support complex engineering decisions.

Blending mechanical engineering knowledge with software development and systems analysis, you will build new analytical capabilities, strengthen existing tools, and support software users and development teams. This highly technical role sits where mechanical engineering, mathematical modeling, and engineering software meet, with plenty of room to grow into other areas. It is a full-time, on-site position in the Greater Akron, Ohio area (North Canton), with relocation assistance provided.

What You'll Do

  • Plan and coordinate detailed phases of major software initiatives for system analysis, focused on building new or updated engineering algorithms.
  • Refine analytical methods for component modeling, system modeling, equilibrium calculations, and mechanical performance prediction.
  • Weigh alternative technical approaches and apply engineering and software best practices to produce accurate, sustainable analytical solutions.
  • Research emerging practices in mechanical modeling, engineering analysis, and software development, inside the company and across the industry.
  • Assess current and emerging analytical software to decide whether to buy, build, consolidate, upgrade, or retire applications.
  • Convert engineering fundamentals and analytical concepts into practical software that delivers measurable value to engineering and business users.
  • Follow established engineering and software standards while applying mechanical engineering principles and development methodologies.
  • Maintain, enhance, and troubleshoot existing system analysis tools.
  • Guide software developers, engineers, internal users, and occasionally customers with technical support.
  • Help engineering teams use analytical software effectively and resolve related technical issues.
  • Read, interpret, and debug source code across multiple languages and analytical platforms.
  • Juggle several development and support efforts while meeting project and business deadlines.
  • Partner with cross-functional engineering and software teams to improve analytical capabilities and engineering processes.

What You Bring

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Strong grasp of Mechanical Engineering principles, including Statics, Fatigue, Power Flow, Torque, and mechanical system performance
  • Working knowledge of System Modeling, Quasi-Static Equilibrium, Mechanical Component Analysis, and Performance Prediction methods
  • Understanding of Software Development concepts, programming principles, Analytical Algorithms, and Mathematical Modeling
  • Ability to read, understand, and troubleshoot code in FORTRAN, C/C++, C#, VB6, VBA, and VB.NET
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and logical reasoning, with the ability to turn complex engineering calculations into effective software
  • Solid Problem Solving under development and customer support deadlines
  • Excellent Communication and Collaboration with engineers, developers, internal users, and customers
  • A team-oriented approach paired with the ability to work independently and manage multiple technical priorities
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship

Preferred

  • Experience in application engineering, engineering software development, systems analysis, or a related field
  • Experience with MATLAB or similar mathematical and engineering analysis software

Compensation & Total Rewards

  • Salary: $75,000 - $87,500
  • Bonus: 10%
  • Engagement: Full-time, direct hire; on-site, North Canton, OH (Greater Akron area)
  • Benefits: full benefits, including a 6% 401(k) match, and relocation assistance
