Business Analyst | Annuity | New Prod

Description

We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join a collaborative team supporting annuity-focused new product initiatives in Iowa. This contract opportunity has the potential to become permanent and will work closely with business, product, technology, and operations partners to shape practical solutions that meet user needs and business objectives. The role offers broad exposure across planning, delivery, testing, and ongoing optimization within a fast-moving Agile environment.

Responsibilities:
Partner with stakeholders across product, operations, and technology to uncover business needs and convert them into well-defined user stories and functional documentation.
Contribute to Agile delivery activities by supporting sprint planning, daily collaboration, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives to keep work aligned with priorities.
Work alongside technical teams to help define scalable solutions, support early concept development, and influence product planning decisions.
Evaluate existing workflows to identify inefficiencies and recommend process improvements through automation or better use of technology.
Assist with production support efforts by investigating issues, helping coordinate fixes, and promoting system reliability for business users.
Track operational incidents, maintain clear documentation, and support resolution activities while identifying patterns that can reduce future disruptions.
Serve as a connector between business and technical teams by clarifying expectations, communicating progress, and helping manage delivery timelines.
Develop and execute validation approaches such as test scenarios and requirement checks to confirm solutions meet intended business outcomes.
Review system and user data to uncover trends, support decision-making, and inform enhancements to annuity-related products.
Support new product development efforts by helping refine requirements, align cross-functional teams, and maintain momentum from concept through release.

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience in a Business Analyst or IT Business Analyst role.
Hands-on background in the financial services sector, including experience supporting annuity-related business functions.
Demonstrated ability to gather requirements and translate them into user stories, functional specifications, and other business documentation.
Experience working in Agile environments such as Scrum or Kanban.
Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail in complex business situations.
Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
Ability to succeed in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and multiple concurrent initiatives.
Previous involvement with new product development teams is strongly preferred.
