Our direct Client is looking for Senior SQL Server Database Administrator-12 Months Contract-Remote opportunity-Direct Customer.
Primary Skills : Infrastructure as code - Terraform/Bicep , Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD tooling ,Troubleshooting and performance diagnosis ,Hands-on HA/DR experience ,Expert-level SQL Server administration, Automation skills. T-SQL and PowerShell
Responsibilities
Lead the administration and support of SQL Server environments, including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, security, monitoring, maintenance, and data archival across Azure and AWS.
Design, implement, and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions, including Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Replication, and Change Data Capture.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues related to performance, capacity, connectivity, and reliability across production and non-production environments.
Develop and maintain automation to streamline routine tasks, improve operational efficiency, and reduce manual intervention.
Collaborate closely with application developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to support database design, deployment, performance tuning, and optimization efforts.
Ensure database servers and databases are deployed and maintained in accordance with GBS standards, security requirements, and business needs.
Ensure service-level agreement targets are consistently met.
Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation and provide off-hours support for scheduled maintenance activities and critical incident resolution.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
8–10+ years of database administration experience, with expert-level knowledge of SQL Server.
Experience supporting multiple database platforms is highly desirable, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, and Cosmos DB.
Expert knowledge of SQL Server administration, including security, backup and recovery, indexing strategies, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
Extensive hands-on experience implementing and supporting SQL Server high availability and disaster recovery solutions, as well as cloud-based backup and recovery strategies in Azure.
Strong experience with change planning, risk assessment, implementation, and execution.
Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve complex performance bottlenecks and system failures.
Proficiency in T-SQL, PowerShell, GitHub, and Azure DevOps or other CI/CD tools used for automation, monitoring, and reporting.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences and work effectively across cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated ability to support mission-critical, 24x7 production environments, including participation in on-call rotations and off-hours maintenance activities.
Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
Certified in AWS, Azure, or ML.
Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience administering PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, and Cosmos DB environments.
Experience with infrastructure as code, automation frameworks, and modern DevOps practices.
Education:
Bachelor s degree in computer science, information Systems, or related discipline.
