Summary:
The engineer will support nationwide vCMTS and R-PHY turn-ups by following established operational processes. This role is part of the NGAN (Next?Generation Access Network) Operations team, which is responsible for standing up the vCMTS platform, performing software installation, maintaining system and network health, and supporting new product integration as Comcast deploys the world's first distributed access architecture (DAA) cable system.
This is a 24/7 operations environment requiring participation in an on-call rotation, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities:

Perform vCMTS platform stand-up activities, including software installation, system configuration, and ongoing network maintenance.
Follow existing operational processes for vCMTS and R-PHY turn-ups across the country.
Execute system upgrades, RMAs, and automation tasks (scripting in Python, Bash, etc.)
Maintain accurate documentation and ensure operational readiness for new products.
Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to mitigate incidents in a 24x7 production environment.
Troubleshoot complex network, system, and hardware issues across Juniper, Arista, or Cisco devices.
Identify service impacting trends and collaborate with development teams to implement long-term solutions.
Implement change management activities, including upgrades, risk management, and automation adjustments.
Support the mitigation and resolution of issues impacting virtual cable modem termination systems (vCMTS).

Required Skills:

3+ years of hands-on production operations experience in a 24x7 environment.
Strong understanding of: Unix/Linux environments, Scripting & automation (Bash, Python, etc.), Network troubleshooting & configuration (Juniper, Arista, or Cisco), Server hardware and software troubleshooting.
Exposure to new product integration in a high availability environment.
