Summary

UNIVERSAL Technologies, LLC is seeking an experienced QA Lead with at least 8 years of experience and experience testing public facing enterprise level web applicationsfor a hybrid position in Brooklyn, NY to support enterprise Quality Assurance initiatives for a high-profile public sector digital transformation project. Active LinkedIn preferred.. The QA Lead will oversee testing strategy, mentor QA team members, coordinate testing activities throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable software solutions. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience leading QA teams, developing comprehensive test strategies, implementing test automation, and collaborating with cross-functional technical and business stakeholders.

***3 days onsite required. Approximately 1 year project.

Mandatory Skills / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of Quality Assurance experience, including at least five (5) years serving as a QA Lead supporting complex enterprise applications.
  • Experience testing public-facing web applications.
  • Experience using SDLC and test management tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Quality Center (QC), or similar platforms; Azure DevOps experience is highly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with Selenium WebDriver using Java for UI test automation.
  • Experience developing comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test cases, traceability matrices, defect reports, and test execution reports.
  • Experience creating and maintaining test cases that provide complete requirements coverage.
  • Experience validating technical requirements for integrations involving real-time and batch data transfers.
  • Strong knowledge of functional, regression, sanity, compatibility, and browser-based UI testing for HTML applications.
  • Understanding of testing methodologies for browser-based applications versus desktop ("thick client") applications.
  • Experience using API testing tools such as SoapUI and Postman.
  • Understanding of SOAP and REST web services.
  • Knowledge of common data formats including CSV, XML, and JSON.
  • Understanding of performance testing concepts and methodologies.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint, and other productivity tools.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and issue investigation skills with the ability to clearly document findings and resolutions.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and drive assignments to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership experience mentoring QA analysts, assigning work, tracking progress, and ensuring adherence to QA standards and best practices.
  • Experience testing mobile native applications.
  • Understanding of HTML language and web technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with SoapUI and Postman automation capabilities.
  • Knowledge of XML data models, including NIEM, and JSON structures.
  • Practical SQL experience supporting software testing activities.

Scope of Services

  • Lead Quality Assurance activities supporting enhancements, defect remediation, platform upgrades, software maintenance, and rollout of enterprise digital experiences.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive QA strategies, test plans, test cases, traceability matrices, execution reports, and defect documentation.
  • Review business and technical requirements for completeness, clarity, and testability while providing QA feedback and formal sign-off.
  • Ensure Quality Assurance processes comply with organizational standards, SDLC methodologies, and QA best practices.
  • Coordinate and manage QA activities throughout all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Assign work to QA team members, monitor progress, provide mentorship, and ensure timely completion of testing activities.
  • Estimate testing effort and collaborate with Project Managers to develop realistic testing schedules.
  • Maintain test artifacts within Azure DevOps, Jira, Quality Center, SharePoint, or other approved repositories.
  • Create, validate, and maintain test data required for functional and integration testing.
  • Execute manual and automated test cases in accordance with approved test plans.
  • Track, document, investigate, and help resolve software defects in collaboration with development and project teams.
  • Support application deployments and post-deployment validation activities.
  • Identify and execute sanity, regression, functional, compatibility, integration, and performance testing scenarios.
  • Identify opportunities for test automation and implement automated test solutions where appropriate.
  • Perform API and web service testing using tools such as SoapUI and Postman.
  • Validate data exchanges involving CSV, XML, JSON, SOAP, REST, and other supported integration formats.
  • Maintain accurate testing metrics, project status updates, and QA documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in strategic planning activities and collaborate with executive leadership, project teams, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Perform additional Quality Assurance responsibilities as required to support project objectives.
