Summary
This is a full-time, on-site Systems Analyst position embedded inside FDLE''''''''''''''''s IT shop in Tallahassee. The work centers on three production systems that run 24/7:
It''''''''''''''''s a developer-analyst hybrid role. The person needs to sit in a business meeting, gather requirements, write the TDD and SDD, then go code it. The stack is mature Java/J2EE enterprise — JBoss, Oracle, Hibernate. Someone who only knows modern cloud-native frameworks won''''''''''''''''t be a fit here.
This is a law enforcement environment. The background check is thorough. CJIS compliance is mandatory. Integrity is non-negotiable.
• Gather requirements from business stakeholders and translate them into TDDs, SDDs, and process flow diagrams
• Develop and enhance the Firearm Eligibility System, Mental Competency Application, Concealed Weapons Permitting, and other FDLE systems
• Design and maintain Oracle/MS SQL database structures — stored procedures, views, triggers
• Build and execute test cases (JUnit/TestNG) and performance test with Silk Performer
• Serve as liaison between business and IT — facilitate meetings, manage stakeholder communication, track risks
• Integrate internal and external systems using Web Services and automated data-sharing processes
• Monitor production systems post-deployment and resolve issues
• Contribute to project planning, WBS, risk tracking, and issue management
• Submit weekly status reports to the project manager
Requirements
• Bachelor''''''''''''''''s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or equivalent experience
• Minimum 5 years as a Systems Analyst on enterprise-level IT projects
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to Tallahassee — position is 100% on-site, no remote
• Must pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and credit history check
• No non-compete clauses covering the State of Florida
• Must be able to operate under CJIS Security Policy — prior experience with sensitive government data is a plus
• Strong communication skills — can run a requirements meeting and write clean technical documentation
• Prior state or federal government IT experience is a strong advantage
Interview Process
• In-person interview in Tallahassee — no virtual option
• Predetermined set of technical and behavioral questions
• Live coding exercise on-site — Java and/or SQL
