Job Requirements

Job Title: Senior Research Engineer, Machine Learning

Location: San Jose, CA (Onsite)

Duration: 6 months to start (extendable up to 18 months)

Responsibilities

Investigate machine and statistical learning systems and algorithms, including reinforcement learning, in various applications with greater focus on areas related to information communication, storage and computing) technologies

Support new technology and research initiatives and implement leading-edge proofs of concept following best practices

Lead and contribute to papers and patents as primarily research deliverables

Be a "T": i.e., with broad knowledge and interest in a large variety of research domains while at the same time depth in at least one particular domain.

Keep pace with advances in one or more broad areas (e.g., LLMs, AI for science, RL for design exploration, etc.), while focusing more deeply on critical research questions.

Collaborate with in-house and academic researchers focused on applications of reinforcement learning and other machine learning technologies in various fields, including computing, micro-architecture, chip, device and materials design.

Collaborate with management to communicate complex ideas in various internal and external forums.

Test ideas and share results effectively, both orally and in writing

Qualifications

PhD in one of electrical engineering, computer science, physics or mathematics with a strong background in statistics

Existing publication record in ML/SL/AI conferences or journals.

Proven solid background in research, software and system engineering

Good understanding of tools of trade and implementation of machine learning systems
