Job Title: Server Test Engineer (Manufacturing / Production Test)

Location: Whitsett, NC (Onsite 5 Days/Week)

About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on Server Test Engineer to join our manufacturing and production operations team. This role is responsible for validating, troubleshooting, and optimizing server hardware systems throughout the production lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in server hardware, Linux environments, automation tools, and production testing processes.

You will work closely with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to ensure server platforms meet performance, reliability, and quality standards before deployment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute server hardware validation, testing, and troubleshooting activities in a production environment.
  • Analyze automated test results and investigate failures using Linux, Python, Bash, and system logs.
  • Perform root cause analysis on server hardware issues involving CPUs, memory, motherboards, storage devices, power supplies, and networking components.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute test plans, test cases, and test procedures aligned with organizational standards.
  • Configure and support server test infrastructure, including servers, switches, rack systems, cabling, PXE, and DHCP services.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and support teams to identify and resolve product defects.
  • Assemble, validate, and troubleshoot rack-level server deployments.
  • Document test results, defects, corrective actions, and improvement recommendations using JIRA or similar tracking tools.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance testing efficiency, quality, and manufacturing throughput.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on testability, reliability, and manufacturability of server platforms.
  • Provide support during critical production periods, including occasional overtime or weekend activities when necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in server hardware testing, validation, troubleshooting, or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of Linux operating systems and command-line troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with Python, Shell, or Bash scripting.
  • Hands-on experience with server hardware components including:
    • CPU
    • Memory
    • Motherboard
    • Power Supply Units (PSU)
    • Storage Devices
    • BIOS/UEFI
    • BMC Controllers
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex hardware issues.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing, production, lab, or data center environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with x86 Intel server architecture.
  • Familiarity with NVIDIA GPU-based and ARM-based server platforms.
  • Knowledge of server management technologies including:
    • Redfish
    • IPMI
    • PLDM
    • BMC Validation
  • Experience with:
    • Windows Server
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
    • SUSE Linux
    • VMware
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals including:
    • TCP/IP
    • Routing
    • MAC Addressing
    • Port Configuration and Troubleshooting
  • Experience configuring PXE boot environments and DHCP services.
  • Experience in OEM, server manufacturing, data center operations, or hardware validation environments.
