Position Overview

The Senior AI Developer serves as the lead technical resource responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and supporting enterprise Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) solutions that enhance business applications, automate processes, and improve operational efficiency. This role collaborates with Product Owners, Federal Project Managers (FPMs), Business Analysts, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Solution Architects, developers, and stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and responsible AI solutions that align with business and mission objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the architecture, design, development, and implementation of enterprise AI solutions using Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Machine Learning (ML), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and intelligent automation.
  • Design and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions using enterprise knowledge repositories, document management systems, structured databases, and vector databases.
  • Develop AI-powered assistants, chatbots, intelligent copilots, and document processing solutions utilizing OCR, entity extraction, summarization, semantic search, and information retrieval.
  • Integrate AI capabilities into enterprise applications through secure RESTful APIs, microservices, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Apply predictive analytics, recommendation models, anomaly detection, and AI-driven decision support to enhance business operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable, production-ready AI solutions.
  • Develop prompt engineering standards, AI guardrails, evaluation frameworks, and Responsible AI practices.
  • Implement MLOps processes to support model deployment, monitoring, versioning, testing, and lifecycle management.
  • Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, technical estimation, code reviews, and continuous delivery.
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend innovative solutions that improve business processes, scalability, and user experience.
  • Ensure AI solutions comply with Federal cybersecurity requirements, including FISMA, FedRAMP, the NIST AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF), the Privacy Act, Section 508, and agency AI governance policies.
  • Support testing, performance optimization, security assessments, DevSecOps integration, and production support throughout the software development lifecycle.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of software development experience, including at least 2 years developing enterprise AI or Generative AI solutions.
  • Strong experience with Python, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL, REST APIs, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform), and modern AI frameworks.
  • Experience with LLMs, RAG, prompt engineering, AI agents, vector databases, and enterprise application integration.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, secure software development practices, and enterprise architecture.

Work Environment
  • Remote or hybrid work environment based on program requirements.

Clearance Requirements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
