Senior Systems / Network Engineer 100% REmote
Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Systems / Network Engineer to join our team in Las Vegas, NV. This role is primarily focused on systems engineering and cloud infrastructure, with secondary responsibility for core networking fundamentals.
This is not a pure network engineering role. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in VMware virtualization, Microsoft Azure/O365 infrastructure, server management, and automation, along with a solid working knowledge of networking fundamentals.
Core Responsibilities VMware / Virtualization (Primary Focus)
- Manage and maintain vSphere and ESXi environments
- Perform server builds, upgrades, and lifecycle management
- Oversee storage systems and backup solutions
- Administer Active Directory (AD) and Group Policy (GPO)
- Monitor system health, performance, and availability
- Support both Windows and Linux server environments
Azure / Microsoft 365 Infrastructure (Primary Focus)
- Manage Azure Virtual Machines
- Configure and maintain Conditional Access policies
- Administer Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
- Support Hybrid Identity environments
- Manage Microsoft 365 (M365) administration
- Support SharePoint Online and OneDrive
- Understand and manage Azure networking fundamentals
Server Management
- Maintain enterprise server environments
- Perform patching, upgrades, and security hardening
- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness
- Optimize system performance and capacity planning
DevOps / Automation (Primary Focus)
- Develop and maintain PowerShell automation scripts
- Support GitHub integrations
- Assist with CI/CD pipelines
- Implement deployment automation and configuration management
Network Fundamentals (Secondary Responsibility)
- Configure and troubleshoot VLANs
- Apply subnetting and routing basics
- Support firewall administration
- Manage endpoint security controls
A strong systems engineer should be comfortable handling this level of networking without requiring advanced certifications such as CCIE.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in Systems Engineering or Infrastructure Engineering
- Strong expertise in VMware (vSphere, ESXi)
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365
- Experience managing hybrid identity environments
- Strong PowerShell scripting and automation experience
- Experience with CI/CD and deployment automation
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (VLANs, routing, firewall basics)
- Experience supporting both Windows and Linux environments
- Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in enterprise or multi-site environments
- Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Familiarity with endpoint security platforms
- Azure certifications (preferred but not required)
