Summary

Modern Technology Solutions Incorporated (MTSI) is seeking Senior Weapons System Engineer to lead technical projects for OSD Strategic Capabilities Office (SCO).

Engineering & Technical Leadership
  • Provide analytical and engineering support for the design, development, and prototyping of long-range precision fires weapons systems and military technologies.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in weapons and munitions systems design, engineering, and test supporting rapid technology demonstration projects and advising Program Managers, Chief Lead project teams supporting development and key weapon system technologies including seekers, avionics, aerodynamic and GNC design and test.
  • Work with program team and test partners to identify launch vehicle opportunities to enable rapid and scalable flight test cadence
  • Engage with NASA centers to leverage key technologies that can be adapted to military system test architecture to enable scaled test architectures

Project Management & Stakeholder Coordination
  • Work closely with the program team, FFRDCs/UARCs, transition partners, and other DoW stakeholders to organize, formulate, execute, and evaluate systems to assess performance and military utility.
  • Participate in project reviews, assess contract deliverables, and coordinate with technical review boards on decisions with broad programmatic impact.
  • Engage directly with prime contractors and government stakeholders during Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR), and working groups to proactively resolve technical issues.
  • Identify technical risks, rigorously assess impacts to cost, schedule, and performance, and provide actionable recommendations to leadership to inform investment and program decisions.
  • Support project management by coordinating the development of statements of work, budgets, schedules, and developing robust analysis plans.
  • Work with the Program Management team and chief engineer to understand priorities and drive project execution in alignment with those priorities.

Testing, Integration & Communication
  • Create and coordinate laboratory test plans, actively participate in developmental and operational testing activities, review test data, and rigorously document findings (includes travel to test sites and range activities).
  • Support weapons and munitions integration activities, including platform interfaces, stores compatibility, and certification considerations.
  • Develop and deliver high-quality presentations, recommendations, and written communications to synthesize qualitative and quantitative data and explain complex designs to program management and all stakeholders.
  • Interface seamlessly across distributed teams to efficiently collect, organize, and manage programmatic information, technical data, and briefing products throughout the DoW, defense industry, and public distribution channels.

Qualifications:
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an Engineering discipline, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Data Science, or Computer Science.
  • 15+ years of demonstrable experience supporting DoW operations and/or complex defense programs.
  • Proven capability to work full-time in a Eglin AFB, FL office within SCIF/SAPF environments.
  • Comfort and proven reliability working in a multi-level security environment supporting highly sensitive activities.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Direct hands-on experience with advanced weapon or missile platforms.
  • Experience developing and executing test plans at DOW ranges.
  • Familiarity with system developmental test processes to include software and hardware-in-the-loop architectures.
  • Strong background in Modeling and Simulation and Digital Engineering of weapon systems.

The pay range for this position is $200,000/year to $240,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract ranges, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
