Summary

Your role

As a Strategic Sourcing Specialist, you will report to our Purchasing Manager, and work within a local team of 5 other purchasing professionals. This position is located in South Charlotte (About 3-4 miles from Carowinds). This is a hybrid position #Li-hybrid with 2 work from home days per week.

Mission

To strategically source and secure high-quality, cost-effective parts while fostering strong supplier relationships that drive value, support operational excellence, and contribute to Atlas Copco's long-term growth. The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is committed to optimizing costs, enhancing supplier performance, and ensuring a reliable supply chain that meets the evolving needs of both internal and external customers.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Supplier Relationship Management
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with key suppliers to ensure the availability and quality of spare parts.
  • Negotiate favorable terms and pricing with suppliers, driving value and savings for the organization.
  • Monitor supplier performance, holding them accountable to KPIs related to quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness.

2. Sourcing and Localization
  • Source and evaluate alternative suppliers, with a focus on those capable of localizing part production, to support CTS Purchasing's commitment to ensuring high availability at the lowest total cost.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Planning, Transportation, and other cross-functional teams to align Purchasing strategies with project and operational needs.

3. Cost Management and Savings Initiatives
  • Develop and implement a strategic approach to cost savings, identifying opportunities across sourcing, negotiation, and supplier partnerships to drive long-term value and achieve annual savings targets.
  • Actively support working capital reduction efforts and provide detailed breakdowns of savings, such as material savings, transport savings, and import duty savings
  • Collaborate with other Atlas Copco entities for volume leverage and product pricing.
  • Take proactive and necessary actions to accomplish objectives, establishing and maintaining effective communication with all relevant stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration and successful outcomes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
To succeed, you will need

Education
  • A Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

Experience
  • 5-7 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, ideally within the manufacturing, distribution, or spare parts industry.
  • Experience in supporting or managing supplier relationships, including exposure to negotiation and supplier performance improvement.
  • Involvement in cost-saving initiatives or strategies, with an ability to track progress and outcomes.

Skills
  • Negotiation Proficiency: The ability to negotiate favorable terms that support Atlas Copco objectives, balancing assertiveness with collaboration to ensure mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Effective Communication: Capable of conveying information clearly and concisely across teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to facilitate smooth procurement processes and maintain positive supplier relationships.
  • Analytical Competence: Skilled in using data analysis tools to interpret purchasing data, monitor inventory trends, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • ERP & Data Analytics Proficiency: Experienced in leveraging ERP systems and data analytics tools to manage purchasing workflows, analyze vendor performance, and optimize supply chain efficiency.
  • Excel Expertise: Advanced capabilities in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis functions, to support purchasing decisions and reporting.
  • Supply Chain Knowledge: Understands key supply chain principles and logistics considerations within spare parts distribution, including inventory management, lead times, and supplier reliability.
  • Customer-Focused Approach: Recognizes the impact of purchasing on internal and external customers, with an emphasis on meeting quality and delivery standards to support business needs.

Travel
  • Some travel required including occasional short-notice trips to meet business needs.
