Who You Are:

You are a wireless architect who can turn emerging RAN and 5G technologies into practical, testable network solutions. You bring hands-on lab experience, strong knowledge of LTE and NR protocols, and the judgment to guide engineers and vendors through evaluation, integration, and proof of concept work.

As a Consultant, you will lead technical workstreams on client engagements, communicate findings clearly, and help translate wireless technology choices into reliable products and services.

Role and Responsibilities:

You may work on various projects throughout your career with Excelacom. The responsibilities below pertain to this position.

• Develop and evaluate wireless RAN and 5G architectures, infrastructure, products, and software platforms; assess new requirements and recommend solutions based on performance,
• Study emerging wireless technologies, assess their impact on wireless strategy and services, and validate capabilities through lab evaluations, proofs of concept, and field trials when appropriate.
• Design complete network configurations integrating RAN architectures, topologies, radios, baseband units, distributed and central units, software, transmission, signaling links, and protocols.
• Lead lab engineering and validation of new wireless technologies; develop test plans covering functional, performance, and business requirements and document findings and recommendations.
• Coordinate with vendors and engineering teams to test firmware, software, and hardware; diagnose issues and design flaws and drive resolution.
• Evaluate and deploy test tools, automation frameworks, and repeatable processes for technology innovation, proof of concept demonstrations, and future testing strategies.
• Support wireless network security, network function virtualization, cloud-enabled architectures, new service applications, and potential IoT use cases.
• Provide day-to-day technical leadership and mentoring in the lab; estimate work, manage concurrent initiatives, deliver to schedule, and keep functional leaders informed.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of experience in software development and technical delivery or management, including hands-on wireless engineering and lab testing.
• Experience with RF hardware and measurement instruments such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, and network analyzers.
• Strong knowledge of LTE and 5G NR layers and protocols, including L1/PHY, MAC, RRC, OFDM, modulation, timing and synchronization, and random access.
• Knowledge of RAN technologies including vRAN, MIMO, GPS and PTP timing, and configuration and management of radios, BBU, DU, CU, eNB, and gNB.
• Experience with wireless access technologies and related routing, switching, and security components.
• Ability to lead complex projects across matrixed engineering teams, mentor engineers, prioritize competing initiatives, and solve problems under pressure.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical decisions and progress to stakeholders and management.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering; MBA.
• 2+ years of technology management experience with a major U.S. cable operator, telecom or satellite provider, or wireless vendor.
• Operational experience with 5G and 4G LTE networks.
• Experience with virtualization and cloud platforms, wireless network security, IoT architectures, test automation, and vendor-led lab or field trials.
• Prior consulting experience in telecommunications or related communications environments.

Compensation and Benefits:

Excelacom offers competitive salaries, health and wellness benefits, 401(k), paid time off, and career growth opportunities. For regular full-time employees, the estimated salary range for this position is $80,000 to $110,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based on qualifications, experience, and other relevant factors.
