Full Stack Developer (Java, Python)

Introduction

As a Full Stack Developer specializing in Java and Python, you will be an integral part of our team at Freddie Mac''s Investments & Capital Markets division. You will contribute to the firm''s enterprise forecasting platform, supporting long-term financial projections and strategic planning. Your role will involve developing and enhancing core features of the forecasting engines, ensuring model accuracy, performance, and scalability. Collaboration with stakeholders to implement new forecasting capabilities and meet evolving business requirements will be a key aspect of your responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Refactor and modernize existing components of the financial accounting and forecasting application.
  • Develop and enhance core forecasting engine features to improve accuracy and runtime efficiency.
  • Support critical production runs for financial reporting and ensure integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of outputs.
  • Write clean, robust, high-quality code following best practices.
  • Collaborate with team members across different layers of the stack to deliver end-to-end solutions.
  • Assist with infrastructure upgrades, platform migrations, and adoption of new technologies.
  • Contribute to design discussions, code reviews, and documentation.

Requirements

Required Skills

  • At least 5 years of hands-on software development experience using Java and Python.
  • Experience with Git for source control in a team-based development environment.
  • Experience with SQL and relational database development.
  • Proficiency with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong unit testing skills and implementing automated test coverage.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Agile development processes.

Preferred Skills

  • Graduate degree in a quantitative discipline.
  • Understanding of GAAP accounting fundamentals.
  • CFA/FRM certification or progress towards it.
  • Experience engaging with stakeholders to gather requirements.
  • Exposure to product and project management tools.
