Position Introduction/Key Duties

Cimarron is seeking a Senior ConOps & Architecture Engineer to join the team located in Seal Beach, CA, with potential options to work from El Segundo, CA or Aurora, CO based on candidate eligibility. As a ConOps & Architecture Engineer in ESG, you will have the opportunity to personally contribute to the development of new first-of-kind space vehicles and missions. The ESG portfolio consists of a range of platforms and technologies including the X-37B, the world's first fully autonomous reusable spaceplane, which is continuing to shape the future of space technology while currently flying its eighth mission.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Key Duties:
  • Support technology integration for and development of first-of-kind space vehicles and missions.
  • Develop and present review packages to internal and external senior leadership.
  • Work proactively and independently in a fast-paced, demanding atmosphere.
  • Lead and drive complex system trade studies to closure.
  • Ensure proper system architecture is in place to support mission objectives.
  • Lead functional analysis and decomposition for mission activities.
  • Coordinate with diverse stakeholders to resolve cross-segment issues.
  • Utilize Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools to capture the system architecture and operational concept.

Required/Desired Skills, Experience, and Education

Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include, but is not limited to, testing for marijuana use.
  • This position requires access to federal facilities. Candidates must possess a valid, unexpired Real ID-compliant driver's license or state-issued identification card at the time of hire. If you are unsure whether your ID is Real ID-compliant, please check for the star symbol in the upper portion of your driver's license or state ID.
  • Current TS/SCI or ability to obtain DoD TS from previously-held security clearance.
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • 5 years of experience leading or managing cross-functional or cross-organizational teams within engineering and/or test.
  • 5 years of direct experience with Satellite Systems Engineering groups.
  • 10 years of experience in systems engineering, systems integration, and/or software engineering.
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • Master's degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • Strong oral, written, and visual communication skills.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and external customers.
  • Experience in spacecraft, launch vehicles, or highly autonomous unmanned systems.
  • Experience with spacecraft mission operations.
  • Experience with applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to space programs.
  • Broad knowledge across spacecraft subsystems.
  • Experience with spacecraft ground development.
  • Level 5: 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
