One of our clients is seeking an experienced Application Database Administrator (DBA) to support a mission-critical application environment.
The ideal candidate will bring strong SQL DBA expertise, experience supporting complex application architectures, and the ability to align technical execution with business priorities.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary DBA supporting a critical enterprise application running on a proprietary message-processing architecture
• Manage and optimize SQL database environments with a focus on performance, reliability, and data integrity
• Support multi-threaded data streaming and ensure ordered message processing across parallel data streams
• Collaborate closely with application, infrastructure, and business teams to understand workflows and operational priorities
• Troubleshoot and resolve database and application-related issues impacting downstream systems
• Help prioritize workloads based on business needs and application dependencies
• Create and maintain documentation to support continuity and long-term system stability
Requirements
Required Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience as a SQL Database Administrator, preferably in application-focused environments
• Strong knowledge of database internals, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
• Experience working with high-throughput or event-driven systems requiring strict message order
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
• Experience with Kafka or similar streaming/message-based platforms
• Background supporting proprietary or highly customized systems
• Exposure to environments with parallel processing and priority-based workflows
