Summary

Supports the enterprise database environment and ensuring database performance, availability, reliability, and security. Database technologies include Snowflake, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, and Oracle across cloud and hybrid environments.

Your Impact

Administer, monitor, and support assigned database technologies; design and implement backup, recovery, archiving, and data retention strategies.

Ensure the availability, performance, and security of databases supporting business applications.

Identify, recommend, and implement operational improvements, automation opportunities, and database support initiatives.

Proactively monitor database systems to deliver secure, reliable services with minimal downtime.

Perform database administration, maintenance, and project support activities, including planning and delivery of assigned initiatives.

Partner with infrastructure, cloud, and application teams to optimize resources for database performance, scalability, and high availability.

Execute database maintenance activities including upgrades, patching, configuration management, and performance tuning.

Communicate project status, issues, risks, and opportunities to technical and business stakeholders.

Contribute to knowledge sharing, documentation, and training related to database technologies and operational processes.

Escalate complex technical issues to senior database staff or appropriate third-party vendors as needed.

Participate in an on-call support rotation for enterprise database platforms.

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Typically requires 3-5 years of database administration or related technology experience.

Working knowledge of relational and/or NoSQL database technologies including backup and recovery, security, performance tuning, and high availability concepts.

Familiarity with incident, problem, and change management processes.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate across technical disciplines.

Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Desired:

Experience supporting one or more of the following technologies: Snowflake, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or Oracle.

Experience with database administration, monitoring, and management tools, upgrades, migrations, patching, and implementations.

SQL performance tuning and query optimization experience.

Experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell, Shell, Python, or similar technologies.

Experience supporting cloud-based database platforms and services, including Microsoft Azure, AWS, or comparable environments.

Familiarity with backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.

Exposure to data warehousing and analytics platforms, including Snowflake.

Retail industry experience.
