Summary

Overview & Responsibilities

Overview & Responsibilities

The Big Picture

This is more than a programming role-it's a chance to shape how things get made. As a Methods Engineer, you'll provide the technical and administrative direction that keeps our manufacturing operation running at its best. You'll generate CNC programs, create route sheets, and work side-by-side with the team on the floor to solve problems, reduce costs, and improve quality. If you like a role that blends hands-on problem-solving with strategic thinking, this is it.

What This Role Really Means

This is both a line and support position.
  • Line responsibilities mean you'll help control and coordinate production activities to keep things moving smoothly.
  • Support responsibilities mean you'll develop and implement CNC programs and computer-generated route sheets that directly impact how work gets done.

You'll also help direct and coordinate activities across a multi-functional department-including training programs, developing new manufacturing processes, and driving cost reduction.

Supervision & Leadership

While this is not a full-time supervisory role, you'll step into a supervisory capacity when needed. You'll also lead and direct Bargaining Unit Personnel, so strong communication and people skills are a must.

What You'll Do Day-to-Day

Programming & Documentation
  • Generate all CNC programs required for production
  • Generate route sheets required for production
  • Generate tooling orders for all fixturing needed
  • Assist tool designers in pre-designing fixtures
  • Generate tool requisitions for non-HI-LO items

Shop Floor Support
  • Assist machine operators with troubleshooting as needed
  • Direct and control shop floor manufacturing activities
  • Manage CAD/CAM interface

Problem Solving & Quality
  • Assist Product Engineering in solving quality, manufacturing, and design problems
  • Manage and coordinate efforts to eliminate root causes of scrap and rework
  • Monitor and control scrap and rework costs
  • Monitor safety problems and promote a safe work environment

Process Improvement
  • Lead and participate in developing manufacturing techniques that reduce part cost and increase part quality
  • Administer a program of good housekeeping across all areas of responsibility
  • Monitor and control ISO 9000 requirements where applicable

Requirements
  • 5 years of experience in manufacturing, manufacturing processes, and shop floor control
  • Experience with graphics-based CNC programming
  • Experience with computer-assisted route sheet generation
  • Ability to motivate and work effectively with Bargaining Personnel
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong analytical capabilities and problem-solving techniques
