Job Description>

The primary responsibility of the Sr. Engineer - Data is to provide guidance for the department's data integration work, including developing a data model, maintaining a data warehouse and analytics environment, and writing scripts for data integration and analysis. This role will work closely and collaboratively with members of the Enterprise Analytics, BI and Data Science teams to define requirements, analyze data, integrate data from a variety of sources, and deploy high-quality data models and data marts in support of the analytics needs of the business. This role will also generate quality data models in support of reporting, analysis and forecasting by business entities.

Position Overview

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assembling large, complex sets of data that meet non-functional and functional business requirements, generally through the development of data marts
  • Identifying, designing, and implementing internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes
  • Working with stakeholders including data, design, product, IT, and executive teams and assisting them with data-related technical issues
  • Work with end users to understand data requirements and translate them into effective data models
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity across multiple sources and systems
  • Collaborate with Data Scientists to support algorithms, analytics, and coding techniques
  • Design and implement ETL processes for data transformation and preparation
  • Manage data pipelines for analytics and operational use
  • Help implement and manage security controls to ensure data access aligns with organizational policies and user roles
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to stakeholders during the development and implementation of data assets
  • Identify and address performance bottlenecks to ensure efficient data processing and retrieval
  • Stay abreast of the latest features, updates, and best practices in tools, applications, and environments used across the enterprise including Google Cloud Platform
  • Engage in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge

Minimum Qualifications

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization to work in the United States
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, business administration, finance, or a related field
  • Strong command of relational databases and SQL. Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) data into a relational database
  • General data manipulation skills: import, process and clean data, transform, and interpret data, merge data sets, reformat data, develop or improve data marts, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new design and coding techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot code without support
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and be a self-starter
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams, in both a lead and a support role
  • Understand the usage of APIs to push and pull data from various data systems and platforms
  • Experience working with cloud infrastructure services like Google Cloud Platform is preferred but not required
  • Effective time management skills, including demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
  • Knowledge of ETL processes and tools for data transformation and loading. (e.g., Alteryx, SSIS)
  • Ability to document processes, configurations, and best practices
  • Ability to see the big picture/whole system and execute on grass root level to rapidly demonstrate impact and value to the organization
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and other Team Members of different backgrounds, expertise, and levels of experience
