The Opportunity
The architectural integrity of global investment and technology research relies on the seamless convergence of Quantitative Research & Data Engineering and rigorous computational execution. Within this domain, where the synthesis of complex data and high-performance systems is the primary objective, the necessity for first-principles mastery extends beyond the laboratory and into the operational nucleus of the organization. StaffRight Associates is seeking an elite professional to join the Systematic Trading team at a world-class firm dedicated to the advancement of computational excellence.
This role demands a candidate who possesses the intellectual pedigree required to navigate the complex challenges of a research-intensive environment. By bridging specialized technical awareness with proactive problem-solving, the successful candidate will ensure the structural alignment of the firm’s strategic mission with its technical execution.
What You’ll Do
As a Senior Quantitative Developer / Research & Data Engineer, you will serve as a vital catalyst within a premier organization going through a once-in-a-generation independent spinout. The mission is to decouple systemic friction from analytical progress, allowing the firm’s leadership to maintain a singular focus on the acceleration of Systematic Trading & Simulation Frameworks. You will be tasked with the sophisticated management of Research Infrastructure and Data Platforms, transforming abstract organizational needs into formalized, actionable results.
Core Technical Objectives
Orchestrate Systemic Workflows: Design and operate the high-performance systems that deliver real-time market data to trading infrastructure, ensuring speed, absolute reliability, and continuous operational flow.
Synthesize Complex Data: Build the integrated environments where quantitative researchers develop, test, and deploy predictive models—from feature engineering through production execution.
Optimize Operational Frameworks: Architect cloud-based simulation and experimentation platforms that support large-scale quantitative research without becoming an operational bottleneck.
Engineer Multi-Project Solutions: Independently manage a diverse portfolio of concurrent projects, standing up toolchains for new asset classes or trading strategies, and applying a proactive Goal-Execution-Mapping (GEM) approach to solve emergent bottlenecks.
Facilitate Elite Communication: Serve as a discrete and articulate interface between the technical committee, quantitative researchers, and the CTO, maintaining the highest standards of technical clarity and professional integrity.
What You Bring
Technical & Professional DNA
Architectural Philosophy: A mindset rooted in engineering quality, quantitative judgment, and system resilience. You are a senior technical leader who builds robust frameworks, infrastructure, and systems, rather than simply writing scripts.
Resourceful Problem-Solving: A proven track record of autonomous execution (6–15+ years of relevant experience) within a high-standards buy-side environment, with the ability to take full ownership of major architectural initiatives.
Communication Precision: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. You can articulate complex technical thinking clearly to both elite scientific minds and senior business leadership.
Functional Versatility: A generalist mindset capable of pivoting fluidly across the boundary of research and production—ensuring that what quants build in notebooks runs reliably at scale.
Academic & Technical Toolkit
Educational Foundation: A Bachelor''''''''s degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative STEM discipline from a top-tier program.
Domain Expertise: Meaningful professional engagement within a systematic fund, quantitative trading firm, or a premier technology company operating at an equivalent scale.
Quantitative Literacy: Strong proficiency in Python, with C++ utilized where performance and high-speed data processing demands it. Comfort working with distributed systems, cloud computing, execution systems, performance optimization, data pipelines, and Linux environments.
Compensation & Total Rewards
This position offers an elite compensation package designed for top-tier technical talent, reflecting the high-impact nature of a pre-spinout hire. The firm does not operate within rigid compensation bands and rewards exceptional capability directly.
Base Salary: $175,000 – $225,000+ (depending on experience)
Total Compensation Opportunity: $750,000 to well over $1,000,000 inclusive of base salary and bonus performance markers.
Bonuses: Guaranteed Year 1 bonus structure for senior technical leaders.
Benefits & Logistics: Comprehensive direct-hire benefits package, relocation assistance paid nationwide, and full visa sponsorship availability for qualified candidates.
Work Arrangement: A highly collaborative environment located in downtown Manhattan. This is a hybrid role requiring four days in-office, with Mondays remote.
