About the Opportunity

Our client is launching a next-generation insurance platform and is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to assume technical ownership of its modern cloud data ecosystem. This individual will play a critical role in transitioning the platform from a consulting-built solution to an internally managed, scalable, and governed enterprise data platform.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineering leader with deep expertise in AWS, Snowflake, and dbt who can drive architecture decisions, establish engineering standards, and ensure reliable delivery of business-critical data assets.

Key Responsibilities

Own and maintain the end-to-end cloud data platform, including AWS data services, Snowflake, and dbt.

Design, develop, and optimize scalable ETL/ELT pipelines supporting enterprise analytics and reporting.

Establish and enforce data governance, security, access controls, data masking, and compliance standards.

Define and maintain enterprise data models, ensuring consistency, quality, and scalability across the organization.

Design and support semantic data layers that enable self-service analytics and business intelligence reporting.

Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize platform performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.

Drive architectural best practices, coding standards, and operational excellence across the data engineering function.

Mentor junior engineers and help build internal capabilities as the organization transitions platform ownership from external consultants.

Required Qualifications

7+ years of hands-on Data Engineering experience in cloud-based environments.

Strong expertise with AWS data services such as Glue, Lambda, S3, IAM, EventBridge, and related technologies.

Extensive experience designing and managing Snowflake data warehouse solutions.

Strong experience with dbt for data transformation, testing, and documentation.

Proven experience building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and modern data architectures.

Deep understanding of data modeling, data warehousing concepts, and semantic layer design.

Experience implementing data governance, security, and compliance controls.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to operate as a technical owner of a critical platform.
