Network Security Engineer / Cloud Firewall SME

Locations: Mclean, VA OR Plano, TX

Duration: 12+ Months with possible extension.

About the Role: The Security Integration team is expanding and onboarding Network Security Engineers to support large-scale infrastructure integration efforts and provide hands-on consulting during platform migration and security modernization initiatives.

This role focuses on strengthening enterprise network security posture while accelerating remediation of configuration issues, compliance gaps, and operational backlogs. Engineers will participate in structured onboarding and training programs to align with internal security standards, tools, and workflows before supporting production environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Support enterprise integration and migration initiatives across network security platforms.

Provide security consulting and operational support during infrastructure modernization efforts.

Assist in reducing backlogs related to:

Configuration vulnerabilities

Compliance findings

Security exceptions and technical exposure points

Operational and service requests

Participate in internal onboarding and enablement programs.

Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, and security architecture teams.

Enforce network segmentation, boundary controls, and security zoning standards.

Manage, design, and optimize cloud and on-prem firewall solutions.

Required Qualifications:

Cloud Firewall & Security Engineering

AWS Cloud Firewall SME experience

Hands-on knowledge of AWS WAF (Web Application Firewall) preferred

Palo Alto Cloud Firewall engineering experience

Strong experience with Virtual Palo Alto firewall design and deployment

Network Engineering & Compliance

Senior-level Network Engineering experience

Experience implementing domain boundary controls and segmentation policies

Strong understanding of security configuration standards and compliance remediation

Knowledge of enterprise network security architectures
