Location: Jersey City, New Jersey (Onsite)
Role Overview
This role is responsible for hands-on application development to support current and target processes. The selected candidate will partner with multiple technology teams to implement the target architecture and support migration to a strategic platform. This position requires strong technical skills in Java development and big data technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform end-to-end Java application development.
- Utilize multi-threading, collections API, and JDBC for robust application design.
- Implement frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, JPA, and Hibernate.
- Design and optimize data pipelines and queries for performance and scalability.
- Discover, ingest, and manage new data sources, including real-time, streaming, and batch data.
- Load and manage large datasets within a Hadoop environment and compute complex logic on Spark platforms.
- Conduct performance profiling to identify and implement performance improvements and memory optimizations.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to other members of the data engineering team.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a quantitative discipline is required.
Experience: A minimum of nine years of experience in end-to-end Java application development is required. Experience with data-intensive applications and software development in an Agile environment is necessary.
Technical Skills:- Core Java, including multi-threading, collections API, and JDBC.
- Frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, JPA, and Hibernate.
- SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Big data technologies including Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, Apache Hive, or Apache Flink.
- Java UI technologies such as HTML5, Angular JS, Backbone JS, or Bootstrap.
- Knowledge of Java profiling tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- A background in enterprise stress testing.
- Knowledge of risk domains (credit, operational, and market).
- Familiarity with cloud computing or distributed computing.
- Experience working within a Hadoop or other big data distributed ecosystem.
