Automation Technician (Direct Hire) - Buffalo Grove, ILPay: $25 - $28 per hour
Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts (day or night) +shift differential and quarterly bonus opportunities
We are hiring a hands-on
Production Automation Technician to support and maintain automated manufacturing systems in a fast-paced production environment. This direct hire opportunity is ideal for candidates with a
2-year technical degree in mechatronics, automation, industrial maintenance, or a related field and experience working with automated equipment.
What You'll Do
- Troubleshoot and repair automated production equipment, including conveyors, robotics, and packaging systems
- Perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and improve reliability
- Diagnose mechanical issues such as misalignment, wear, and jams
- Support PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens); reading programs required, editing is a plus
- Work with pneumatic systems (cylinders, valves, actuators)
- Inspect equipment, complete repairs, and document maintenance activities
- Partner with engineering and production teams to improve system performance
- Respond quickly to breakdowns and restore operations
What We're Looking For
- Associate degree or technical training in automation, mechatronics, or related field
- 2+ years of experience with automated manufacturing equipment
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read schematics and technical drawings
- Experience with conveyors, motors, sensors, or robotics preferred
