Job Description
A growing technology company is looking for a QA Mobile Test Automation Engineer to define and build automated test coverage across web, mobile, and backend systems. The engineering organization is focused on delivering reliable software across Flutter Web, native mobile applications, .NET backend services, and connected enterprise platforms. As the product continues to evolve, they're looking for an experienced automation engineer who can establish a thoughtful testing strategy and ensure quality is built into the development process from the ground up.
As a QA Mobile Test Automation Engineer, you'll own the automation strategy across the entire testing stack, determining what should be tested at the unit, widget, integration, end-to-end, and exploratory levels. You'll build and maintain automated UI and API test suites, run regression testing across real iOS and Android devices and major desktop browsers through platforms such as BrowserStack, and validate that data moves correctly between frontend applications, .NET APIs, and connected services such as Salesforce.
This is a hands-on role with significant ownership over how testing is approached across the organization. You'll integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines, establish quality gates, investigate flaky tests down to their underlying causes, and define metrics that demonstrate the effectiveness of the testing program. You'll also help evolve the team's tooling and standards, evaluate new testing technologies, review test code, and work with developers to make quality a shared responsibility rather than something handled solely by QA.
The ideal candidate has 5+ years of professional test automation experience across both UI and API layers and has previously defined a testing strategy rather than simply executing an existing one. You'll have the opportunity to influence device and browser coverage, automation architecture, CI/CD practices, and the broader quality engineering process while working closely with Engineering, DevOps, and Product teams.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of professional experience in test automation covering both UI and API testing
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Experience defining and owning a test strategy, including determining the appropriate automation layer and device/browser coverage
- Experience making and defending testing strategy decisions with Engineering and Product teams
- Hands-on experience with Flutter testing frameworks or comparable UI automation tools with the ability to quickly learn Flutter
- Experience configuring and running automated UI suites on cloud testing platforms such as BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, or similar
- Experience testing desktop browsers and physical iOS and Android devices
- Experience testing applications integrated with enterprise systems such as Salesforce or another CRM platform
- Experience running automated tests within CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or equivalent
- Proficiency with REST API testing, JSON payloads, and backend services built with .NET / C#
- Practical understanding of mobile fragmentation, including screen sizes, OS versions, and platform-specific behavior
- Experience introducing or migrating a testing tool, framework, or process and evaluating the cost and benefit of the change
Desired Skills & Experience
- Experience building automated test suites for Flutter Web and native mobile applications
- Experience with cross-browser testing across Chrome, Safari, Edge, and Firefox
- Experience testing applications across a broad range of physical mobile devices
- Experience with Postman and Newman
- Experience with Git and modern CI/CD workflows
- Experience with Jira or Azure Boards for defect tracking
- Experience establishing testing metrics such as escaped defects, flake rate, suite runtime, and critical-path coverage
- Experience troubleshooting flaky tests caused by rendering, device-specific behavior, timing issues, or unstable APIs
- Experience evaluating and adopting new testing tools and frameworks
- Experience mentoring developers on test automation and establishing organization-wide testing standards
What You Will Be Doing Daily Responsibilities
- Define and maintain the overall testing strategy across unit, widget, integration, end-to-end, and exploratory testing
- Determine which browsers, devices, platforms, and user journeys require automated coverage based on release risk
- Build and maintain automated UI test suites for Flutter Web and native mobile applications
- Execute regression suites across real iOS and Android devices and Chrome, Safari, Edge, and Firefox using cloud device platforms
- Build automated API and integration tests validating REST APIs, JSON payloads, request/response contracts, and backend behavior
- Validate data flows between frontend applications, .NET backend APIs, and connected enterprise systems such as Salesforce
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and establish quality gates that prevent problematic builds from reaching production
- Investigate flaky tests and identify their underlying causes rather than relying on retries or workarounds
- Define and track quality metrics including escaped defects, flake rate, suite runtime, and coverage of critical user paths
- Evaluate emerging testing tools and frameworks and conduct proof-of-concepts before introducing them into the engineering workflow
- Review test code and establish conventions that improve consistency and maintainability
- Partner with developers to improve their ability to write and maintain automated tests
- Collaborate with Developers, DevOps, and Product Managers to define test criteria and identify edge cases before features are released
