ICF is hiring a 2026 Summer Intern to help support our transportation consulting practice. Interns contribute to the development of innovative, data-driven, high-quality, and policy-relevant products and services, typically working across multiple projects and collaborating with staff at all levels of the organization.
Our interns are given opportunities to work on assignments that foster professional growth and build hands-on experience in transportation planning, mobility analytics, and emerging technologies. Through client engagements, colleague and peer interactions, and specialized training, ICF Interns develop subject matter expertise and project management skills.
This is a full-time, 10-week internship that will begin in early June 2026. This is a fully remote internship from any U.S. location, with a preference for applicants located in New York State. At this time, relocation assistance is not available. Pay is expected to be $23/hour for undergraduate interns. General Responsibilities - Support research and analysis efforts related to mobility, data analytics, and innovative transportation technologies.
- Contribute to the development, testing, and refinement of data-driven tools, platforms, and internal applications.
- Apply programming, data analytics, and technical skills to support analytical workflows, automation, and innovation-focused initiatives.
- Support data visualization and storytelling efforts to translate technical findings into clear, accessible insights for a range of audiences.
- Collaborate with project teams across transportation disciplines to support ongoing tasks, special analyses, and ad-hoc project needs.
- Document methods, findings, and lessons learned in a manner that balances technical rigor with clarity for non-technical stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications - At least 30 completed college-level credit hours (preferably in Urban Planning, Transportation Engineering, Public Policy, Computer Science, or related fields).
Preferred Qualifications - Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and/or project management related tools
- Experience programming languages, such as Python, PostgreSQL, Java, C, and C++.
- Experienced in working with various platforms, such as Linux, Windows, Android
- Experience in developing and managing documentation and data analysis.
- Strong intellectual curiosity, ability to solve complex problems, and enthusiasm to learn beyond what is required for daily tasks; a willingness to dive into new topics
- Capability to extract trends, extrapolate, and understand information from a set of data.
- Technical research skills and ability to work with and understand technical concepts, while also being able to communicate them to varied audiences.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Ability to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment and a capability to prioritize tasks; strong time management, analytical, and inter-personal skills.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
