#Position Overview
The candidate will manage, maintain, and optimize MSSQL Databases hosted on AWS EC2 instances, lead database migrations from SQL Server to PostgreSQL, and drive infrastructure automation using Terraform and Harness pipelines.
This role requires expert troubleshooting in SQL Clustering/Always On Availability Groups, performance tuning, and AWS cloud database operations.
#Key Responsibilities
* MSSQL Core Administration & High Availability: Install, configure, and maintain MS SQL Server on AWS EC2; manage SQL Clustering, Always On Availability Groups, capacity planning, backups, restoration, and replication.
* Database Migration & PostgreSQL Management: Lead cross-platform database migrations from SQL Server to PostgreSQL; configure and maintain PostgreSQL environments on AWS using services like AWS DMS, S3, IAM, and CloudWatch.
* Performance Tuning & Monitoring: Perform deep query optimization, index/stats management, execution plan analysis, deadlock resolution, and proactive database health monitoring using SQL Profiler, pgAdmin, and AWS CloudWatch.
* Automation & Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Automate routine DBA management tasks and deploy database infrastructure/code using Terraform and Harness deployment pipelines.
* Security & Disaster Recovery: Enforce data integrity, manage roles/permissions, implement Change Data Capture (CDC), and execute Multi-AZ disaster recovery and failover configurations under strict compliance.
#Required Qualifications
* Core Experience: Minimum 10 years of overall IT experience with 5+ years of dedicated MS SQL Server administration and maintenance.
* Cloud & Migration Stack: Deep hands-on experience managing MSSQL on AWS EC2, configuring PostgreSQL, and executing SQL Server-to-PostgreSQL migrations.
* Infrastructure Automation: Hands-on experience with Terraform and Harness pipelines for database code and infrastructure deployment.
* High Availability & Tuning: Proven expertise in SQL Always On Availability Groups, SQL Replication, CDC, SQL Profiler, and performance tuning under high volume.
* Preferred Certifications: MSSQL Certified Professional, AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate/Professional).
