Job Summary / Description:

We are seeking an experienced Java Developer / Backend Engineer with strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, AWS, and Docker to support backend application development for Capital One. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building scalable, cloud-native backend services and deploying applications in containerized environments.

This role involves close collaboration with frontend, DevOps, and QA teams to deliver secure, reliable, and high-performing backend solutions while adhering to enterprise engineering standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot.

• Develop, optimize, and maintain PostgreSQL database schemas, queries, and performance tuning.

• Build, deploy, and manage containerized applications using Docker across multiple environments.

• Develop and support cloud infrastructure and services on AWS, including EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, and CloudWatch.

• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate build, testing, and deployment processes.

• Monitor application performance, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure high availability and reliability.

• Collaborate with frontend, DevOps, and QA teams to deliver end-to-end application solutions.

• Follow best practices for application security, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

• Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of development standards.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot for backend development.

• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design and performance optimization.

• Experience deploying and managing applications using Docker.

• Solid experience with AWS cloud services (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch).

• Experience with CI/CD tools and automated deployment pipelines.

• Strong understanding of backend system design, REST APIs, and microservices architecture.

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.

• Prior Capital One experience is mandatory.
