Lead Engineering Technician

Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Engineering Technician to join our Research & Development organization. In this role, you will be an integral part of new product development, product lifecycle management, and operations engineering. You will provide technical leadership, mentor and train laboratory personnel, coordinate cross-functional project testing, and serve as a key technical resource ensuring laboratory excellence and compliance with strict regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership & Mentoring: Guide, train, and provide technical oversight to laboratory technicians. Coordinate testing prioritization, resource allocation, and task execution across multiple projects.
• Laboratory Testing & Method Development: Plan, conduct, and oversee testing activities of moderate to high complexity. Develop, validate, and document new laboratory test methods, protocols, and standard operating procedures.
• Data Analysis & Failure Investigation: Perform product evaluations, returned product analysis, and failure investigations. Collect, analyze, and interpret test data, preparing detailed technical reports and recommendations.
• Quality & Continuous Improvement: Ensure compliance with GMP, FDA, ISO, and internal quality system requirements. Lead Lean Manufacturing, 6S, and continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory environment.

Required Qualifications

• Education & Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; OR an Associate Degree / Technical Certificate with a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible engineering technician experience.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, testing methodologies, laboratory procedures, and data collection/analysis.
• Experience working within a regulated manufacturing, testing, or medical device environment.
• Proven ability to lead, coordinate, and mentor technical staff across multiple projects.
• Knowledge of quality systems, documentation practices, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, GMP, ISO).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills.
