Summary

Job Title: Cloud Development Engineer

Location: Remote

Summary: Seeking a Cloud Engineer to design, build, and automate secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud environments. The role focuses on Infrastructure as Code (IaC), GitLab CI/CD pipeline development, cloud infrastructure deployment, and supporting the reliability of cloud workloads.

Responsibilities:

Architect and implement cloud infrastructure using Terraform and other IaC tools.
Build reusable, modular infrastructure templates for consistent and repeatable deployments.
Implement automated provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring.
Design, build, and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
Integrate infrastructure deployments into CI/CD workflows.
Work with development teams to optimize CI/CD pipelines for performance, reliability, and security.
Manage AWS cloud environments for high availability, scalability, and security.
Implement logging, metrics, and alerts to support cloud observability.
Contribute to incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
Apply security best practices, including IAM roles, encryption, and network segmentation.
Ensure compliance with Department of Defense security regulations.
Monitor and optimize AWS resource utilization and cloud spend.
Collaborate with DevOps, development, and security teams.
Maintain version-controlled documentation for infrastructure, pipelines, and operational processes.

Requirements:

Hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, IAM, EFS, RDS, S3, etc.).
Proficiency with Terraform and Git-based workflows.
Strong background in GitLab CI/CD pipeline design and automation.
Current CompTIA Security+ certification.
Knowledge of cloud networking, security, and IAM principles.
Experience troubleshooting and supporting production cloud environments.
Familiarity with infrastructure observability (CloudWatch, etc.).
Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

AWS Certification (Solutions Architect Associate or SysOps Administrator).
Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience integrating security scanning and compliance checks into CI/CD pipelines.
Knowledge of cost-optimization strategies, including Reserved Instances and Savings Plans.
