Summary

Job Title: Cloud Development Engineer

Location: Remote

Summary: Seeking a Cloud Engineer to design, build, and automate secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud environments. The role focuses on Infrastructure as Code (IaC), GitLab CI/CD pipeline development, cloud infrastructure deployment, and supporting the reliability of cloud workloads.

Responsibilities:
  • Architect and implement cloud infrastructure using Terraform and other IaC tools.
  • Build reusable, modular infrastructure templates for consistent and repeatable deployments.
  • Implement automated provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring.
  • Design, build, and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
  • Integrate infrastructure deployments into CI/CD workflows.
  • Work with development teams to optimize CI/CD pipelines for performance, reliability, and security.
  • Manage AWS cloud environments for high availability, scalability, and security.
  • Implement logging, metrics, and alerts to support cloud observability.
  • Contribute to incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Apply security best practices, including IAM roles, encryption, and network segmentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Department of Defense security regulations.
  • Monitor and optimize AWS resource utilization and cloud spend.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, development, and security teams.
  • Maintain version-controlled documentation for infrastructure, pipelines, and operational processes.

Requirements:
  • Hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, IAM, EFS, RDS, S3, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Terraform and Git-based workflows.
  • Strong background in GitLab CI/CD pipeline design and automation.
  • Current CompTIA Security+ certification.
  • Knowledge of cloud networking, security, and IAM principles.
  • Experience troubleshooting and supporting production cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure observability (CloudWatch, etc.).
  • Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • AWS Certification (Solutions Architect Associate or SysOps Administrator).
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience integrating security scanning and compliance checks into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of cost-optimization strategies, including Reserved Instances and Savings Plans.
