Overview / Summary

We are seeking an experienced ADAS Controls Software Engineer to support the development, integration, and validation of advanced driver assistance system features. The role focuses on model-based software development, system-level engineering, functional safety, and performance validation.

The ideal candidate will have strong MATLAB/Simulink modeling experience and a background in developing or supporting ADAS features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Keeping, and Lane Centering Systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and mature system- and subsystem-level designs, interfaces, and specifications to support production feature delivery.
  • Lead the development and refinement of in-vehicle software and implementation requirements for advanced driver assistance features.
  • Support the development of use cases, functional requirements, and performance targets for next-generation ADAS features.
  • Enhance existing features through model updates, regression testing, test vector development, data analysis, issue identification, and supplier collaboration.
  • Perform replay and bench testing of algorithms to evaluate and improve system performance.
  • Conduct failure mode avoidance assessments and support software model delivery within established development timelines.
  • Develop and refine functional safety requirements, item definitions, hazard analyses, risk assessments, and functional safety concepts in accordance with ISO 26262.
  • Ensure system designs and functional safety deliverables support seamless integration with existing vehicle features.
  • Develop and refine design validation methods to evaluate feature performance across different environmental and vehicle conditions.
  • Support feature-level performance sign-off and first vehicle application.
  • Develop data analysis techniques using track and real-world validation data to verify performance against specifications.
  • Collaborate with product, business, engineering teams, and suppliers to develop and enhance ADAS capabilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of MATLAB/Simulink modeling experience in a professional or educational setting.
  • Experience with at least one of the following ADAS areas:
    • Adaptive Cruise Control
    • Blind Spot Monitoring Systems
    • Lane Keeping Systems
    • Lane Centering Systems
    • Similar Advanced Driver Assistance System features
  • Experience developing, compiling, and debugging MATLAB scripts and S-Functions.
  • Experience developing, compiling, and debugging complex Simulink models.
  • Knowledge of Stateflow and model-based unit testing.
  • Experience with software development, integration testing, and software release processes.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering teams and suppliers.
  • Experience documenting system requirements at concept, feature, and technology levels.
  • Familiarity with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Functional Safety (FuSa) analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Controls, Computer, or Software Engineering.
  • 7+ years of MATLAB/Simulink modeling experience.
  • Experience with computer vision and radar tracking of vehicles, pedestrians, roadway obstacles, and other road objects.
  • Experience with computer vision-based detection and tracking of traffic signs, lights, lanes, and other roadway features.
  • Understanding of embedded hardware and software design.
  • Experience reviewing and analyzing field data to identify error states and failure modes.
  • Experience developing and conducting statistically relevant experimentation and verification methods.
  • Experience with model-based design using Simulink for developing and enhancing software features.
  • Understanding of Kalman filtering, vehicle dynamics, and linear and nonlinear control methods.
  • Software engineering and algorithm development experience using C, C++, Python, MATLAB, or other programming languages.
  • Experience conducting laboratory and vehicle testing, data collection, and analysis.
  • Familiarity with machine learning models and AI/ML tools used in software development.
  • Basic C++ development knowledge.
  • Experience with software testing, including unit and integration testing.
