Overview
A large organization within the financial services space is seeking a senior-level Product Coach to support product teams and leadership across varying levels of Agile maturity. This is a hands-on coaching role focused on strengthening product execution, team effectiveness, and alignment through practical Agile approaches and a strong product mindset.
This role is best suited for someone who has held senior product leadership positions (such as Product Director or equivalent) and has transitioned into coaching. The focus is on guiding product leaders, shaping team structures, and improving how teams operate and deliver value.
Project Focus
- Support the evolution of product team structures, including forming and refining teams
- Help establish consistent product practices and taxonomy across teams
- Improve collaboration, execution, and delivery outcomes
- Partner closely with product leadership to elevate product thinking and decision-making
- Coach teams in a flexible Agile environment that blends multiple frameworks rather than enforcing a single methodology
Key Responsibilities
- Coach product leaders and teams across a range of Agile maturity levels
- Provide practical, experience-based guidance on Agile practices and product strategy
- Partner with product leadership to identify improvement opportunities and drive incremental progress
- Facilitate workshops, working sessions, and team discussions to support alignment and continuous improvement
- Influence stakeholders and teams without direct authority, building trust and credibility
- Improve team effectiveness, collaboration, and delivery consistency
- Create an environment that supports learning, engagement, and ongoing development
- Adapt coaching approach based on team needs and organizational context
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience in product leadership roles (e.g., Product Manager, Senior Product Manager, Product Director, or similar)
- Demonstrated experience coaching product leaders and cross-functional product teams
- Strong background working within Agile environments in real-world delivery settings
- Ability to work independently and operate with minimal oversight
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders effectively
- Proven ability to influence without authority
- Strong facilitation skills across workshops, team sessions, and leadership discussions
- Ability to adjust coaching style based on team maturity and organizational needs
Preferred Experience
- Experience designing, building, or transforming product team structures
- Familiarity with product operating models and modern product management practices
- Experience working in environments that blend Agile approaches (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, scaled practices) rather than strict adherence to a single framework
- Focus on outcomes, team dynamics, and continuous improvement rather than rigid methodology enforcement
