Summary

** On-site at our Prince George, VA facility. **

This requisition is to support anew factory in Prince George, VA (onsite) manufacturing large form-factor equipment. The product will be large (shipping container size), heavy (50+ tons), and complex. This position will be part of the core factory startup and onboarding team responsible for building the operations and manufacturing staff, fitting out the building, and creating the process flow/work instructions/etc. from the ground up.Skills to include: panel and point to point wire assembly, Medium Voltage, Low Voltage, and High Power Electronic assemblies.


Supports and coordinates operational engineering projects from initiation through to completion. Supports project planning, staffing, progress reporting, people management and troubleshooting for engineering projects. Ensures project results meet requirements regarding technical quality, reliability, schedule and cost.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage engineering projects related to the new factory startup, including equipment selection, installation, and commissioning for large form-factor manufacturing.
  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes, workflows, and production layouts to optimize efficiency, quality, and safety in a new plant environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality) to define project scope, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Identify, evaluate, and procure critical manufacturing equipment, tooling, and machinery, ensuring alignment with production requirements and budget constraints.
  • Conduct detailed process analysis, capacity planning, and bottleneck identification to ensure smooth production ramp-up.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including engineering specifications, process flows, FMEAs, and work instructions.
  • Oversee the training of production personnel on new equipment and processes.
  • Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track project progress and manufacturing performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during equipment installation, commissioning, and early production phases.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality management systems.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in project engineering within a manufacturing environment, with a strong emphasis on new factory startups or significant expansion projects.
  • Proven experience working with large form-factor equipment manufacturing (e.g., heavy machinery, aerospace components, large industrial systems).
  • Demonstrated expertise in process development, lean manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing equipment selection, installation, and commissioning.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and project management tools (e.g., MS Project).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities, with the capacity to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to travel as required during the factory startup phase.
