Microservices Developer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce's client in Maryland Heights, MO is seeking a Java Microservices Developer to help design, build, and enhance enterprise-scale service activation and provisioning applications. This role is heavily focused on developing microservices from the ground up while working in a highly collaborative Agile environment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture, along with the ability to work closely with distributed development teams and actively contribute to technical design discussions.
Candidates who have experience with Camunda workflow automation will be given strong consideration.

Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, and implement microservices-based applications from scratch
* Build scalable and resilient backend services using Java and Spring Boot
* Develop solutions that support complex service activation and provisioning workflows
* Collaborate with onshore and offshore development teams throughout the software development lifecycle
* Participate in technical design discussions and provide input on architecture, code quality, and best practices
* Mentor and guide offshore developers while fostering a collaborative team environment
* Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve coding efficiency, testing, and overall productivity while adhering to established development standards
* Develop and maintain automated unit tests and ensure high code quality through peer reviews and testing practices
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for software delivery and engineering processes
* Deploy and maintain services within cloud-based environments

REQUIREMENTS:
* Strong hands-on experience with Java development
* Experience building microservices from scratch in an enterprise environment
* Strong experience with Spring Boot
* Experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, troubleshooting, or productivity improvements
* Understanding of software engineering best practices, including code reviews, testing, and maintainability
* Proven ability to work effectively with distributed and offshore development teams
* Strong communication skills with the confidence to contribute ideas, challenge assumptions, and participate in technical discussions

Nice to Have/Preferred Skills:
* Experience with Camunda workflow orchestration and business process automation
* Experience deploying and supporting applications in AWS
* Experience with Kafka or other event-driven messaging platforms
* Experience designing and implementing event-driven architecture
* Prior experience within large-scale enterprise application environments
* Experience mentoring junior developers or leading technical initiatives

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
