Summary

IT Specialist - Eagan, MN

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly organized, patient, and service-oriented IT Specialist to support a multi-location organization with regional offices and a remote sales workforce. This role is focused on maintaining and supporting a stable, established technology environment rather than implementing major system changes. Success in this position requires a calm, approachable demeanor and a willingness to provide frequent, hands-on assistance to non-technical users.

This is a high-touch support role where responsiveness, consistency, and clear communication are valued just as highly as technical expertise.

This is a full-time direct hire position (option for contract-to-hire) which will be onsite in Eagan, MN. Target pay is between $60,000-75,000 depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

Microsoft 365 Administration

  • Administer the Microsoft 365 environment, including user setup and removal, email permissions, shared mailboxes, and distribution groups

  • Manage spam filtering and assist users with SharePoint and OneDrive access and file permissions

Remote Hardware & Operational Support

  • Configure and troubleshoot handheld scanners and networked printers across multiple locations

  • Perform remote updates, including IP address changes and connectivity troubleshooting for warehouse and office equipment

Infrastructure & Network Support

  • Maintain existing firewall and VPN configurations to ensure secure access across locations

  • Monitor and manage FTP/SFTP services to support secure file transfers

Documentation & Asset Management

  • Develop and maintain internal IT documentation where none currently exists

  • Create and organize records for hardware inventories, IP assignments, service providers, and system configurations

Vendor Coordination

  • Serve as the primary liaison with external IT vendors

  • Coordinate service requests, repairs, contract renewals, and issue escalation as needed

Ideal Candidate Profile

Patient and User-Focused

  • Comfortable supporting individuals with limited technical experience

  • Willing to answer recurring questions with a positive, professional attitude

Detail-Oriented and Methodical

  • Enjoys creating structure and documentation from the ground up

  • Able to manage multiple systems and locations with accuracy and consistency

Technically Curious, Not Trend-Chasing

  • Interested in mastering and maintaining existing systems rather than frequently replacing them

  • Values reliability and function over constant change

Strong Remote Support Skills

  • Confident guiding users step-by-step through technical issues by phone or remote tools

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience administering Microsoft 365 and Exchange

  • Hands-on experience with firewall management and VPN connectivity

  • Working knowledge of FTP/SFTP protocols

  • Experience supporting networked peripherals such as scanners and printers

  • Ability to support a distributed workforce with limited on-site travel

Benefits

  • Paid holidays

  • Generous paid time off with limited rollover

  • Volunteer time off

  • Birthday day off

  • Retirement plan with employer match

  • Employer-paid long-term disability coverage

  • Employer-provided life insurance

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance with HSA and FSA options

  • Employee ownership or equity-based retirement benefit

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, age, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, or military or veteran status. We consider all qualified applicants, including those with criminal histories, in a manner consistent with state and local laws, including the California Fair Chance Act, City of Los Angeles' Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance, and Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance.
