Senior Frontend Engineer (React Native Mobile AI Video Creation) About the Role

This is not a traditional mobile application engineering role. We are looking for a Design Engineer focused on building the next generation of AI-powered mobile video creation experiences.

Using React Native and Remotion, you will build an end-to-end creation workflow that enables users to transform a single prompt into a publishable video entirely on their mobile devices-from idea input to AI generation, preview, editing, remixing, and sharing.

We're looking for someone with exceptional product instincts and visual taste-someone who can independently define product experiences without relying heavily on product managers, and who can build an AI video creation tool that feels lightweight, fast, intuitive, and polished.

Core Responsibilities

• Build the end-to-end AI video creation experience on mobile using React Native, covering generation, preview, editing, remixing, and sharing workflows.
• Develop the video generation and rendering pipeline using Remotion, composing text, images, React components, animations, and templates into exportable video content.
• Independently design product interactions and user experiences, translating ambiguous user needs into clear product features, workflows, and interaction models.
• Continuously refine the AI generation experience, including streaming feedback, generation progress, retry mechanisms, partial editing, version comparison, and result selection.
• Build reusable video templates, motion components, and visual design systems that produce consistent, high-quality, and scalable AI-generated videos.
• Optimize mobile performance across rendering, animation, asset loading, low-bandwidth environments, video exporting, and sharing.

Qualifications Required

• Exceptional visual taste and strong design judgment, with the ability to own the overall quality of video composition, pacing, typography, motion, visual polish, and final output.
• Strong product thinking, capable of independently designing product solutions without relying on detailed product specifications, and able to transform ambiguous ideas into intuitive user experiences.
• Expert-level proficiency in React Native and TypeScript, with experience shipping production-quality mobile applications.
• Strong experience with the Remotion framework, including React-based video composition, rendering pipelines, rendering performance, and architectural best practices.
• Solid understanding of:

  • Complex frontend state management
• Strong understanding of modern AI-native frontend paradigms, including generation-state management, streaming feedback, and interruptible/retryable asynchronous workflows.
• Experience building creative tools, video editing applications, AI-powered products, content creation platforms, creator tools, or other sophisticated mobile applications.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with one or more of the following experiences will stand out:

• Experience building AI video generation products, template-based video editors, short-form video creation tools, motion graphics editors, or other content creation platforms.
• Deep familiarity with the Remotion ecosystem, including automated video generation, AI-assisted editing, template rendering, batch exporting, or server-side rendering.
• Experience with technologies such as:
  • FFmpeg
  • Canvas
  • Skia
  • Lottie
  • React Native Reanimated
  • Video transcoding
  • Subtitle generation
  • Audio processing
• A portfolio demonstrating exceptional visual design, motion graphics, creative coding, frontend animation, or design system work.
• Experience building mobile content creation workflows, including sharing, publishing, exporting, compression, uploading, draft management, and version history.
• Strong intuition for consumer products, content creation, and creator ecosystems, with a clear understanding of what makes users want to save, publish, and share AI-generated videos.
