We are seeking a skilled Mechanical and Rotating Functional Engineer to lead and support critical projects at our Freeport, TX site. This is your opportunity to bring your expertise to life, overseeing minor capital projects from concept to startup, ensuring safety, efficiency, and industry excellence.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead minor capital projects through all phases, from initial concept and justification to final startup and closeout.
  • Develop and oversee engineering datasheets, specifications, and design criteria.
  • Support Front-End Loading (FEL) studies by assisting with cost estimation and budgeting.
  • Specify, select, and coordinate with vendors for rotating equipment, managing external relationships.
  • Provide on-site field support to oversee commissioning, startup, and ongoing maintenance activities.
  • Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality Assurance teams to ensure safe and reliable project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, manage the Management of Change (MOC) processes, and support regulatory adherence.
  • Interface with contractors, vendors, and stakeholders to align project goals and specifications.
  • Contribute to system studies, hazard reviews, risk assessments, and design reviews.
  • Oversee installation, field modifications, commissioning, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering, especially rotating equipment.
  • Experience with project management across all project phases.
  • Ability to develop technical datasheets, specifications, and system diagrams (PFDs, P&IDs, SLDs).
  • Skilled in vendor coordination, bid evaluation, and procurement processes.
  • Familiarity with safety and regulatory standards, including MOC procedures.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Experience with HAZOPs, design reviews, and constructability assessments.
  • Proficiency in equipment testing and commissioning.
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards related to mechanical systems.
  • Previous exposure to mechanical troubleshooting and performance testing.

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical and rotating equipment engineering, preferably within industrial or energy sectors.
  • Prior experience supporting projects in a similar infrastructure environment.

Other Requirements:

  • Current TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) is mandatory.
  • Flexibility to adapt work schedule; standard 4-10 hour days with extended hours during critical project phases.
  • Willingness to work at the Freeport, TX site with potential for site coordination and travel as needed.
