Position Summary

The ideal candidate is a creative problem solver who understands how to balance the structural design process with the realities of Life Time's needs and its financial goals. The Structural Engineer will analyze, design, and oversee the structural integrity of various building and infrastructure projects. You will collaborate closely with architects, contractors, and project managers to ensure all designs are safe, cost-effective, and compliant with relevant building codes and safety regulations. As well as being creative, this person exhibits versatility in the approach of design solutions, is an outgoing and personable problem solver, a self-starter and is experienced and comfortable working on a broad range of project types.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform structural calculations, load analyses, and structural modeling using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, ETABS, SAP2000, or RISA).
  • Develop detailed structural drawings, specifications, and construction documents for foundations, pool structures, and steel detailing.
  • Conduct site visits and field inspections to review construction progress, verify compliance with design plans, and resolve structural challenges.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, MEP engineers, and general contractors, throughout all design and construction phases.
  • Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs (Requests for Information).
  • Ensure designs adhere to local building codes, structural design standards (e.g., IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE 7), and safety requirements.
  • Review existing building structures to confirm compliance with Life Time use. If buildings need to be strengthened, working with construction teams to develop scopes and cost related to strengthening.

Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 3-6 years of experience in structural design and analysis
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with interdisciplinary teams including real estate development, architecture, construction and club operations
  • Ability to work with CAD software programs such as REVIT and AutoCAD
  • Monthly travel to project sites or as required
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software and BIM/CAD tools (Revit, AutoCAD)
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of building codes, material properties (steel, concrete, wood), and construction methodology

Preferred Qualifications
  • Registered Engineer and availability to become registered in other states
  • Experience in retail, health and wellness design and construction
  • Experience in prototype and/or large scale roll-out
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and spatial reasoning skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for client and site interaction

Pay
This is a salaried position starting at $85,000.00(or applicable minimum salary, if higher) and pays up to $117,000.00, based on experience and qualifications.
