The Opportunity
StaffRight Associates is recruiting for a premier industry leader to identify a high-caliber Mainframe Software Engineer to steer critical core processing initiatives in Buffalo, NY. In this pivotal contract position, you will drive the architectural design, technical evolution, and seamless execution of enterprise-level financial systems. Partnering directly with StaffRight Associates grants you exclusive access to high-visibility initiatives where your expertise directly influences mission-critical infrastructure, modernizes legacy systems, and shapes the future of real-time transaction processing.
What You’ll Do
Architect end-to-end technical designs, comprehensive specifications, and robust software enhancements for core system applications.
Champion the technological vision for significant platform modifications, guaranteeing scalable, resilient, and high-performing solutions.
Synthesize complex systems analysis, functional design blueprints, and strategic development workflows across the entire engineering lifecycle.
Mentor junior engineering talent while directing task execution and resource allocation across small- and large-scale initiatives.
Manage the technical roadmap and execution schedules embedded within broader enterprise project plans.
Guide total system development lifecycles, spanning initial technical discovery through final user acceptance validation.
Execute rigorous debugging protocols, construct comprehensive test scenarios, and evaluate test datasets to guarantee system integrity.
Produce meticulous technical specifications and maintain clear, standardized functional documentation.
Recommend cutting-edge operational processes, strategic policies, and technological upgrades to resolve operational bottlenecks.
Enforce strict organizational development standards, governance frameworks, and programming best practices.
Maximize operational uptime for key business platforms while delivering swift, root-cause resolution for high-priority incidents.
What You Bring
Mainframe Application Engineering expertise, featuring direct hands-on history supporting large-scale enterprise applications.
Retail Banking Domain Knowledge alongside deep familiarity with Debit Card Processing Systems and transaction workflows.
COBOL, CICS, JCL, and Panvalet proficiency, including extensive hands-on experience with Online Real-Time Processing.
Hardware Platforms and Application Development Software environment mastery.
Debit Card Modernization and System Migration hands-on experience.
Problem-Solving, Organizational Management, and Time Management skill sets.
Stakeholder Presentation experience accompanied by high-impact Communication Skills.
Cross-Functional Coordination experience bridging technical software applications and core business units.
Compensation & Total Rewards
Hourly Rate Range: $55.00 – $70.00+ / hour (W2 contract arrangement)
Contract Duration: 6+ Month engagement
Work Arrangement: Onsite in Buffalo, NY
