Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior iOS / Mobile Solutions Architect to support the modernization of Macy's and Bloomingdale's mobile applications, with a primary focus on migrating from UIKit to SwiftUI.
The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in iOS architecture, proven experience modernizing enterprise-scale mobile applications, and a strong background in retail or eCommerce. This individual will assess the existing architecture, engineering workflows, and technology roadmap, providing strategic recommendations and hands-on architectural guidance to ensure a scalable, efficient, and sustainable modernization.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assess the existing iOS architecture, development workflows, and technical roadmap to identify modernization opportunities, architectural limitations, and technical debt.
  • Define and guide a phased migration strategy from UIKit to SwiftUI, ensuring compatibility, scalability, and minimal disruption to existing applications.
  • Provide architectural leadership across application design, modularization, state management, performance optimization, and engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership, product teams, and stakeholders to align technical decisions with broader business objectives.
  • Evaluate architectural considerations specific to retail and eCommerce, including high-volume transactions, checkout, personalization, and customer experience.
  • Provide actionable technical recommendations, architectural reviews, and implementation guidance to engineering teams.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with extensive expertise in native iOS development and architecture.
  • Advanced proficiency in Swift, UIKit, and SwiftUI, including hands-on experience migrating production applications from UIKit to SwiftUI.
  • Proven experience as a Senior/Principal iOS Engineer, Mobile Architect, or Mobile Solutions Architect within enterprise environments.
  • Strong knowledge of modern iOS architectural patterns, including MVVM, modular architecture, dependency injection, and Swift Concurrency.
  • Experience supporting complex, large-scale consumer-facing applications, preferably within retail, eCommerce, or omnichannel environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess existing architectures, formulate modernization roadmaps, and influence strategic technical decisions.
  • Excellent communication, technical leadership, and stakeholder-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with major retail or eCommerce platforms supporting high transaction volumes.
  • Background in modernizing legacy iOS applications and implementing reusable UI components or design systems.
  • Experience providing architectural advisory services to enterprise engineering organizations.
