UI/UX Developer / Architect Accessibility & Design Systems (Only local to IA)
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior UI/UX Developer / Architect with strong expertise in enterprise design systems, front-end development, and web accessibility. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building scalable, reusable UI components and implementing accessibility standards across enterprise applications.
This role will focus on developing and maintaining an enterprise design system and reusable component library, ensuring compliance with WCAG 2.1/AAA, and supporting multiple high-visibility state and enterprise applications. The candidate will work closely with developers, UX teams, and business stakeholders to promote accessibility, consistency, usability, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities- Build, document, and maintain scalable enterprise design systems and reusable component libraries.
- Develop accessible, reusable UI wrapper components using Angular, HTML, and SASS.
- Ensure applications and components comply with WCAG 2.1, including AAA-level accessibility requirements.
- Implement semantic HTML, ARIA roles, keyboard navigation, focus management, and other accessibility best practices.
- Use Storybook for component development, documentation, testing, and collaboration.
- Leverage USWDS (U.S. Web Design System) or similar enterprise design systems.
- Conduct accessibility testing, code reviews, and UI/UX reviews to identify and resolve compliance issues.
- Collaborate with developers and cross-functional teams to establish accessibility and design-system best practices.
- Mentor development teams that are new to accessibility, reusable component architecture, and enterprise UX standards.
- Support accessibility remediation and UX initiatives across multiple enterprise/state systems.
- Help establish standards and processes that ensure long-term sustainability of the organization's design system.

Required Skills & Qualifications- 5+ years of professional front-end development experience.
- Strong experience with Front-End Development and enterprise web applications.
- Hands-on expertise with WCAG 2.1/AAA accessibility standards.
- Strong knowledge of ARIA, semantic HTML, keyboard accessibility, and accessible UI patterns.
- Excellent proficiency in HTML5 and SASS/SCSS.
- Strong hands-on experience with Angular.
- Experience building and integrating enterprise design systems from the ground up.
- Experience developing reusable and scalable UI components and wrapper components.
- Hands-on experience with Storybook for component development and documentation.
- Strong understanding of UX principles and accessible user interface design.
- Experience with USWDS or comparable enterprise design systems.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

- Knowledge of MVC architecture.
