Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Instructional Designer II with 2–5 years of experience to design, develop, and manage engaging learning solutions that support business and performance objectives. This role is responsible for leading instructional design projects, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, and creating effective training programs for employees and organizational partners.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, and experienced in managing multiple instructional design initiatives while applying adult learning principles and modern instructional technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage instructional design and performance support projects from initiation through completion.
  • Partner with clients, subject matter experts (SMEs), and designers to define project objectives, scope, and timelines.
  • Develop project plans, monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Lead and provide direction to multiple project teams while coordinating with cross-functional departments.
  • Design and develop instructor-led, virtual, self-paced, computer-based, technical, and management development training programs.
  • Conduct learning needs analyses and recommend appropriate instructional strategies and performance improvement solutions.
  • Apply current instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles, and industry best practices.
  • Develop and guide the creation of instructional materials, learning content, performance support tools, and assessments.
  • Recommend and implement effective delivery methods, instructional technologies, and learning solutions.
  • Evaluate project outcomes, capture lessons learned, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure instructional content effectively addresses the needs of diverse learner populations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s degree required.
  • 2–5 years of experience in instructional design, learning & development, or a related field.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience collaborating with business partners, SMEs, and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to balance competing priorities and negotiate project deliverables with both internal teams and clients.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including facilitation, consensus building, negotiation, coaching, interviewing, and influencing.
  • Experience creating eLearning and blended learning solutions.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Articulate Storyline
    • Articulate Rise
    • Microsoft PowerPoint
    • Adobe Creative Suite (or related Adobe products)

Interview Process

  • One interview with the hiring manager.
  • The interview will primarily focus on the candidate''s background and experience and will include approximately 6–8 interview questions.

Work Schedule

Candidates will work 8 hours per day and may choose from one of the following schedules:

  1. 6:30 AM – 10:30 AM | 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  2. 6:30 AM – 10:30 AM | 11:30 AM – 3:30 PM
  3. 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM | 11:30 AM – 3:30 PM
  4. 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM | 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Employees may choose either a 30-minute or 1-hour lunch break.

Additional Information

  • Potential opportunity to convert to a full-time employee based on business needs and performance.
  • Company equipment will be provided by SDG&E.
