Middleware Messaging Engineer 

Location: Jersey City, NJ (Hybrid)
Assignment Type: 12-Month Contract (Full-Time, Hybrid)
W2H Pay Rate: $80-$85


Responsibilities

  • Provide 24/7 and, when necessary, weekend support for systems involved in the architecture.

  • Function as an IBM WebSphere MQ Administrator; install MQ environments on Windows and Linux.

  • Create and configure Queue Managers, channels, queues, and other MQ objects.

  • Perform backup and restore of Queue Managers and related objects; recover damaged MQ installations or Queue Managers.

  • Upgrade and patch MQ environments on Windows and Linux.

  • Implement custom MQ security solutions using channel exits or SSL; set up SSL communications between MQ servers and clients.

  • Install and configure MQ Clients on Windows and UNIX platforms.

  • Function as a Solace Messaging Engineer.

  • Install, upgrade, and patch Solace Appliances.

  • Administer Solace Appliances and configure redundancy and fault tolerance of Solace infrastructure.

  • Configure Solace bridging between remote appliances.

  • Configure different protocols with Solace appliances (MQTT, REST, AMQP).

  • Use Solace CLI to configure solace objects.

  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Solace Queues and Topics.

  • Enable SSL for Solace communications.

  • Interface with application teams to troubleshoot complex, cross-platform Solace communication issues.

  • Identify operational and infrastructure risks and collaborate with development and APS teams to mitigate them.

  • Ensure optimal resilience and meet all disaster recovery and compliance requirements.

  • Configure monitoring for Solace Appliances.

  • Develop Python and Ansible playbooks to automate the messaging infrastructure.


Required Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge and experience with IBM MQ and Solace installation, configuration, and setup.

  • Experience setting up redundancy and fault tolerance between Solace Appliances.

  • Knowledge of SSL setup for Solace and IBM MQ.

  • Strong experience with MQ processes, triggers, channels, and clustering.

  • Exposure to monitoring tools such as Nastel.

  • Knowledge of Kafka.

  • Strong experience with PowerShell scripting.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft O/S, SUN Solaris, and Linux.

  • Experience with Python and Bash scripting.

  • Must comply with all organizational policies on attendance, compliance, and professional conduct.

  • Willingness to adapt to changes introduced in a dynamic environment.


Plus Skills

  • Experience with web application servers (Apache Tomcat, JBOSS, WebLogic).

  • Experience with web servers (Apache Web, IIS).

  • Understanding of Load Balancers (LTM).

  • Understanding of DNS and GTMs.
