Job Description

Job Description

We are seeking three highly capable Mechanical Engineers / Machinists to join a team in Leesburg, Virginia.

Design, manufacture, and support a proprietary system used in specialized maritime applications. This is a unique opportunity to work on a complete product lifecycle from machining and assembly to testing, troubleshooting, and product improvement.

This is not a production-line position and it is not a traditional corporate engineering role.

We are looking for builders, problem-solvers, and mechanically minded professionals who enjoy creating tangible products and taking ownership of their work.

Position Overview

The majority of this role involves precision machining, assembly, and manufacturing support. However, we are specifically seeking individuals who can also think like engineers and contribute to product improvements, process development, and technical problem solving.

Our goal is to develop a team of three cross-trained professionals who can become interchangeable across machining, assembly, testing, and engineering functions, creating long-term operational redundancy and flexibility.

Primary Responsibilities

  • CNC machining and machine setup
  • Manual machining and fabrication
  • Mechanical assembly and testing
  • Product troubleshooting and repair
  • Prototype development
  • CAD support and design improvements
  • Manufacturing process improvement
  • Quality control and inspection
  • Documentation and work instruction development
  • Cross-training across all product functions

Desired Qualifications

Preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • CNC machining experience
  • CAD and Modeling experience
  • Experience with prototype development or manufacturing engineering
  • Familiarity with machining tolerances, GD&T, and manufacturing processes

Highly Valued Experience

  • Formula SAE, Baja SAE, robotics, motorsports, aviation, marine systems, fabrication, machine shop projects, product development, or other hands-on technical pursuits
  • Experience building, repairing, modifying, or optimizing mechanical systems
  • Strong mechanical intuition and troubleshooting ability

Requirements

  • U.S. Person status
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Ability to travel for up to one month at a time during initial training and knowledge transfer
  • Strong work ethic and ownership mentality
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team

What Makes This Different

Most engineering jobs separate design from manufacturing.

Most machining jobs separate machining from engineering.

This role combines both.

You will have direct involvement in building, improving, and supporting a specialized product used in demanding real-world environments. Your work will directly influence product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and future development.

We are not simply looking for someone to run machines.

We are looking for people who enjoy solving problems, building things, learning continuously, and taking responsibility for outcomes.

Compensation & Benefits

Very Competitive compensation based on experience.

Benefits and additional compensation details will be discussed during the interview process.

How to Apply

Please submit:

  • Resume
  • Brief description of a project, machine, vehicle, product, system, or business you have built, improved, repaired, or optimized that you are particularly proud of

We are hiring three positions and encourage candidates with both engineering and machining backgrounds to apply.

Location: Leesburg, VA

Position Type: Full-Time, On-Site

Travel: Up to one month during initial training and transition period
