Network Engineer
A Network Engineer’s main responsibility is to plan, design, implement and operate all aspects of IP networks including network services, video, data, and voice across all locations. Network types include: WAN, LAN, VOIP, VLAN, and SD-WAN, VPN . The Network Engineer executes on system installations and defines, documents, and puts into effect system configuration standards. They secure network systems by setting up and applying policies, defines and oversees access. They maintain all aspects of the network environments and provide day to day support to all users to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve network issues.
Job Description
A Network Engineer’s main responsibility is to design, plan, configure, implement and monitor computer networks including network infrastructure services, video, data, and voice across all locations. Network types include: WAN, LAN, WLAN, VOIP, VLAN, VPN, SD-WAN and NETOPS. The Network Engineer provides direction and solutions for all aspects of network infrastructure & system standards. They secure network systems by setting up and applying policies, defines and oversees access. They maintain network environments and provide support to all users to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve any issues that occur.
Network Engineers also configure and maintain firewalls, load balancers, hosted / unified IP voice & collaboration services. Engineers must be able to assess where there would be the requirement for communications, devise plans for the network, submit them to senior management for approval, and be abreast of the latest developments in the technological arena. Engineers need to comprehend and zero in on the wiring and hardware requirements for the premises of their organizations or clients. They are also responsible for improving or maximizing the network’s performance, stability, resilience and overall network availability.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
· Demonstrates broad knowledge across multiple technologies domains Route/Switch/Data Center/VOICE& UC.
· Must possess intimate knowledge of Dynamic Routing, Software Defined Network (SDN), SD-WAN technologies, MPLS, VPLS, VOICE/UC, Cisco networking and Avaya technologies, MSFT TEAMS Architecture
· Knowledge of hybrid multi cloud network architecture
· Deep knowledge of perimeter technologies such as, Network Load balancing (netscaler), DHCP, DNS, VPN, BGP, OSPF, SIP/RTP
· Industry experience with key networking and network security and PBX/UCaaS technologies and well-established relationship with vendors as well as relationship with various forums and experts
· Ability to work across disciplines and in a matrix environment to deliver results through influence
· Ability present/collaborate complex topics to all levels of staff
· Demonstrates technical leadership for the respective technologies
· Demonstrates collaborative leadership and be the advocate for the network and voice team
· AWS and Azure network Administration experience a plus.
Key Requirements
• B.S. degree in information systems, computer science or related field or equivalent working experience.
· 7+ years in technology infrastructure network, voice, unified collaboration, security architecture, network management, security, and related specialties.
· Industry Certifications a plus: (CCNP, CCNA, MSFT-Teams Engineer, Network +)
· Strong knowledge in technologies including : Cisco Nexus NXOS, Cisco IOS, OSPF, BGP, Meraki, Aruba, Clearpass, Netscaler (SDX/ADC) SIP/RTP Avaya Systems & MSFT UC TEAMS VOICE, WiFi 4/6 Infrastructure.
· Experience managing multiple mid to large size projects and initiatives.
· Industry vendor knowledge and established relationships
· Effective speaker, collaborative worker and good writing & documentation skills
· Able to translate complex technical information and implications in business-oriented language.
· Experience with enterprise Architecture Review Board Network Design Authority
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain and control computer networks and related computing environments together with structures software, programs software, hardware, and configurations.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve software, hardware, and other network and system problems.
• Layout the design and implementation of new solutions and improve the resilience of the modern surroundings.
• Perform disaster recovery operations and record configuration backups when required.
• Monitor overall network performance to decide if changes want to be made.
• Configures routing and switching equipment.
