Job Description SummaryThis role is for the HPT Module integration leader in the GEnx Commercial Engineering Systems Engineering (CESE) team. The HPT Module Integration Leader will report directly to the GEnx CESE sub-section manager.
Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline considering both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users' needs. The discipline includes the process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, ensuring adherence to required processes, evaluating performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Processes from initial design concept generation to production and continued product operation are in scope.
The Systems Module Leader will be responsible for setting priorities and direction for engineering activity germane to the GEnx HPT hardware. This role requires leadership of cross function engineering teams to ensure GEnx program objectives, customer needs, and engineering leadership directives are met. This aspect of the role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgement. This includes providing technical direction and project leadership to deliver on all safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities- Conducts component and product integration. Manages product and systems requirements, specifications and flow down. Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing.
- Responsible for defining product requirements for the module / component / subcontractors and partners engineering teams. Manages interface between components and execution organizations.
- Responsible for driving CTQ / Risk trades within the teams designing the components. Manages the overall product configuration and configuration control system. Supports certification plan definition and execution as required.
- Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
- Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering.
- Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
- Utilize Flight Deck principals and tools to solve problems and optimize execution of assigned tasks. Fosters an environment of continuous improvement.
- Support and/or lead root cause investigations of hardware returned from the field or for production hardware delivery issues. Deliver findings with corrective action recommendations for the business and customers.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in the Engineering/Technology field.
- Minimum 8 years of applicable engineering experience
