A industry leading precision manufacturing company is seeking an experienced CNC Department Lead to oversee daily second-shift operations. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for guiding CNC operators and setup personnel while supporting production, quality, safety, and continuous improvement goals.

The ideal candidate combines CNC machining and setup knowledge with the ability to train employees, assign work, troubleshoot production issues, and keep the department running efficiently.

Job Details

Responsibilities

Lead and provide daily direction to CNC operators and setup personnel
Assign work and manage department priorities to meet production schedules
Monitor productivity, quality, cost, safety, attendance, and employee performance
Train and coach employees on machine operation, setup, quality standards, and documentation
Identify and resolve bottlenecks, equipment problems, safety concerns, and quality issues
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and sample parts
Calculate and adjust speeds, feeds, depths of cut, and other machining parameters
Select appropriate fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials
Use CAD/CAM software to develop or support manufacturing processes
Work with engineering and production teams to resolve machining challenges
Set up and operate CNC equipment when setup personnel are unavailable
Inspect completed parts using precision measuring instruments
Partner with Quality Assurance to maintain product specifications
Assist with interviewing, performance reviews, coaching, and employee development
Serve as acting supervisor when the Production Supervisor is unavailable

Qualifications

At least three years of progressively responsible manufacturing experience
Hands-on CNC machining, programming, or setup experience
Previous lead, training, or supervisory experience preferred
Ability to independently set up and troubleshoot CNC equipment
Strong blueprint-reading and precision measurement skills
Knowledge of speeds, feeds, cutting tools, fixtures, and machining processes
Proficiency with CAD/CAM software
Ability to train employees and communicate clear work instructions
High school diploma or equivalent required
